HFCS is in its third week of our eight week beginning overview of Thinking Maps. We have introduced the Circle Map, and Bubble Map, and this week, the Double Bubble Map. Thinking Maps is a set of 8 visual patterns that correlate to specific cognitive processes. They are used across all grades and content areas to build the critical thinking, problem-solving, comprehension, and communication skills necessary for academic success in every domain. Visit thinkingmaps.com for more information.

We are slowly introducing elements of classical education into our curriculum. This year Ms. Barker is teaching beginning Latin to our 6th, 7th, and 8th graders. This week our faculty will begin discerning what our classical reading list will look like and how we will integrate these books into our current curriculum. On October 26, our entire faculty will be taking a workshop at Nolan entitled, “How to Start a Nature Studies Program.”

Notes from Nurse Lisa

Please make sure that your child has a refillable water bottle.

Every. Day.

We are fortunate to have a filtered water bottle-filling station that your student has access to refill during the day. Unfortunately several students forget or do not own a water bottle and are relying on the small supply of bottles that we have here at the school.

Thank you for your help with this!
