WEEKLY LITURGICAL READINGS AND REFLECTIONS
Third Sunday of Easter
Sacred Scripture JN 21:15
When they had finished breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon, son of John, do you love me more than these? He said to him, “Yes, Lord, you know that I love you.” He said to him, “Feed my lambs.”
Message of Mercy
Do We Welcome Sinners?
The Lord wants us to belong to a Church that knows how to open her arms and welcome everyone, that is not a house for the few, but a house for everyone, where all can be renewed, transformed, sanctified by his love, the strongest and the weakest, sinners, the indifferent, those who feel discouraged or lost…
Are we a Church that calls and welcomes sinners with open arms, that gives courage and hope, or are we a Church closed in on herself? Are we a Church where the love of God dwells, where one cares for the other, where one prays for the others?
— General Audience, October 2, 2013

GR 4 Design Challenge: EGG DROP
Grade 4 Students Learn Engineering, Science, Art, English and Math while using critical thinking and problem solving!
Students were presented with a problem: They needed to create something out of recycled materials available within their classroom's Maker Space, that would allow an egg to stay whole when being dropped from an undisclosed height. It was just told to them, it is very high!
Students had to first draw a design, and then write about why they thought their design would be able to protect the egg. They then were able to start creating their project and making note of any changes or problems along the way. They also tested their design through different trials with other materials before their final drop with the egg in place.
The morning of the official drop students had fifteen minutes to put their egg in place and make any final changes.
Overall, it was a successful learning experience in which students authentically learned critical thinking, the design process, collaboration! Onward not to the next new chapter of physical and chemical changes, and from this engaging project learn what kind of change it was when the egg broke.
PS. The project even made the News Herald!
