The Skipper Scoop
Week of March 18th
SKIPPER NATION
Good Morning Skipper family! It's Monday of Spring Break week - we can do this!
I am with a few teachers in Columbus at the 2019 Literacy Academy. This is a wonderful opportunity for staff offered through the Striving Readers grant. There are close to 1,000 Ohio educators here for learning and networking. This team will bring back ideas and strategies for FHS regarding reading across the content areas.
Have a great week everyone!

Harding Care Closet
Harding High School will soon have it's very own Care Closet thanks to the Interact club and our very own Ms. Becky. The Care Closet will contain personal hygiene items that kids need everyday but sometimes don't have. The Care Closet will contain shampoo, lotions, feminine hygiene products, deodorant, hair gel, chap stick, toothpaste, socks, underwater, etc. The Care Closet will be a private way for our students to get the supplies they need, when they need it, without a sense of shame or embarrassment. We are accepting donations for any of those types of products. They can be sent into the office at any time.
Stem Wars!
On Friday, DR. Avram took many of the 9th grade Physical Science students traveled to Beachwood High School to compete in a STEM Wars Competition against area schools in the Chagrin Valley Conference. Fairport students competed in three of the events: Cardboard boat regatta, mousetrap car races, and solid state rocket competition. These projects were funded by a generous grant from the Fairport Harbor Academic Boosters. Students faced stiff competition from other CVC schools, but had a great showing with Cameron and Michael's rocket traveling an impressive 359 feet! Congratulations to all the participating students!
