RGHS Ram-ily Connection
Partnering With Parents For Student Achievement
December Edition

A "Message" from the Principal
Greetings Parents,
Riverview Gardens High School is committed to strengthening the partnership between home and school. Studies show that an increase in parent involvement in a child's education, in the critical high school years, is essential to a child's success before transitioning to young adulthood. As our freshmen and sophomores move towards completing their first in-person semester on our campus, they will face the realities of credits and grade point averages, eligibility and graduation matriculation. Our scholars have an opportunity to earn up to 4 credits per semester and a total of 8 credits per year. 24 total credits are needed to graduate and earn a high school diploma. Progress reports will be emailed and mailed to you early next week. Please take a moment to review your child's report to get an understanding of where they stand with earning credits. Each class is worth .5 credit. Credits are only earned for classes that are successfully completed. Upon receiving the progress report card, you should have a better understanding of where your child stands.
Each of you are essential to the successful development of a culture of excellence and pride across our campus and we welcome you to become more involved in our parent organization and other parent involvement activities. This holiday season, we are thankful for and want to celebrate each of YOU. We do so for the care, commitment, energy, and dedication you give to your children and for your work each day, through these most challenging of times. Throughout this semester, we have dealt with a host of challenging behaviors and need your continued support in encouraging your scholar to get to class each day on time, manage their social media interactions in a positive manner and complete all assignments as they are due. We are nearing the end of the semester and are encouraging your scholars to finish strong. Any course that your scholar does not successfully complete, will be taken again in order to progress towards graduation.
Your support is critical as it helps scholars to see our collaborative commitment to their success and motivates them to reach their greatest potential. We have many invaluable tools and resources available to assist you with your scholar. Our parent portal provides you with detailed information regarding attendance and academics. We have an amazing app that can be downloaded directly to your phone to ensure that you are kept current on all of our activities and events. Our campus health clinic, the Riverview Advanced Medical Services or RAMS, is available with an on-site doctor to meet your scholar's medical needs. In addition, we have extended learning opportunities to support your scholar's need for additional credit recovery opportunities.
We are a team, a Ram-ily and together we are the perfect combination to take your scholar to his/her next level of greatness. I look forward to continuing this work together with you and your scholar. I thank you for your dedication and partnership in education. Happy Holidays to you all!
