Breakfast with Santa - December 12th

We are gearing up for our 2nd annual Breakfast with Santa and it's looking like a great event! Tickets are $5 and are available ahead of time from any HS band student, director, or can also be purchased at the door. Parents are welcome to check out tickets as well. Tickets include an all you can eat pancake breakfast, a visit with Santa (pictures are $5), a Santa letter writing station, a coloring area, as well as numerous vendors on site with great gifts for the holidays! We created an ornament craft corner as well where ornaments are 1 for $2, or 3 for $5. Santa will again be telling a story at 9:45am. The event runs from 8am-11am and is going to again be a great event for the whole family. Please spread the word and plan on joining us for a wonderful morning filled with smiles and memories!

Click here for a link to the event poster on the band website. We also have color copies so have your student grab a couple to hang up around town, at church, at work, or anywhere else that would bring in the community.

Blanchard Christmas Parade

On the evening of December 12th, after Breakfast with Santa, the HS band will decorate themselves and a trailer and make their way down Main Street in the annual Christmas Parade! We will meet to decorate at 4:00pm. Send your student with as much battery powered, glowing decorations that you can possible find. We want to stand out!

All students need to be at the band room by 5:00pm to load and leave for the parade. The parade starts at 6:00pm and we should be back at the band room by 7:00pm to go home.

Trip Payment Due February 8th

Please remember your trip payment is due on February 8th. If you need any special arrangements, please let Ms. Kauffman know now and we'll get things situated so it works best for you! This trip is shaping up to be EPIC! A full payment is $250 for students and $300 for chaperones. Remember to check Charms to see what your student fundraised so you know how much you owe.

If you are behind in your payments or you would like to get ahead, there are no payments due in December and January so you have some room to wiggle until the next payment is due.

Blanchard Bands Winter Concert

The annual Blanchard Bands Winter Concert will be held on Tuesday, December 15th at 7:00pm in the HS gym. All students in grades 6-12 need to be in the HS band room wearing concert black by 6:15pm. The 6th grade band will perform first followed by the 7th & 8th grade band and then the HS Symphonic Band. The end of the concert will feature all band students performing in a large, mass band playing the B.C. Clark jingle. The concert is free so please invite everyone to come out and celebrate the season with wonderful holiday music performed by Blanchard's amazing band students!

Mattress Fundraiser Reminder!

Remember to talk up our upcoming mattress sale! More info will be out after the start of the year, but mentioning it now wouldn't hurt. Our sale will be Sunday, February 21st in the HS Commons. We will have a parent meeting before the sale to get you all the info you need to make this a super successful sale for you and your student!

Background checks for volunteers

Please remember that if you didn't fill out your form with Brenda at uniform checkout and get her a copy of your driver's license, you'll need to get that done prior to volunteering. The cost of the background check is $12.50 and is required if you want to work directly with our students. For more information, contact Brenda at

HS Band Students of the Month!

Our Blanchard HS Band Students of the month for December are Emily McCarn & Anna Stallings!

  • Emily is a freshman tuba player who has improved immensely in her playing. She went to a summer camp that has paid great dividends, but the part that really made the difference is that she took what she learned and has continued to apply it. She auditioned for All-Region honor band and earned 2nd chair in the Symphonic Band. Emily has gone from struggling to keep up to hanging right with her section and holding her own. Beyond that, Emily has pushed herself even when life hasn't handed her ideal situations. Her attitude has stayed positive and upbeat when she had plenty of reason not to be, which is difficult for most adults to do. This young woman really showed us her strength and determination. We are incredibly proud of you, Emily!
  • Anna is a senior clarinet player, the clarinet section leader, and a member of the Leadership Council. To say that this year is an immense improvement over last year would be an understatement. Anna has finally seen in herself what we have known for years: that she is superbly talented but in order to get the results of that talent, effort is required. Anna has chosen to apply herself this year and the outcome has been success! In the All-Region honor band she earned 5th chair in the Symphonic Band and made it to the 2nd round of All-State. While her playing is better, the biggest, most wonderful growth we have seen is in Anna's attitude. She is a light in our office every day, offering to help with anything we need, and creating ideas for others. She even gave up a senior off hour to volunteer at the middle school with the 7th & 8th grade band. She is a very special young woman and Oklahoma State University is smart to have accepted her already. Your future is bright and we can't wait to see you take the world by storm, Anna!

How to get credit for your monthly newsletter grade! Due by Friday, December 18th!

The purpose of the monthly newsletter is to make sure that students and parents are all on the same page and know about all band activities. To get credit, a parent needs to send an email to Ms. Kauffman that has the following info: student name, grade, parent name, and that the newsletter has been read. This earns you 100%! If you don't have the ability to email, please have your student get a hard copy from a director and it can be signed and returned for the same grade.

Remember, newsletters are only accepted during the month of the newsletter. Once the month has passed, that newsletter can no longer be submitted.
