UPDATED ATHLETIC INFORMATION
Beginning Monday, the 31st all golfers and swimmers will be allowed to return to practice. Each sport’s head coach will reach out to the student-athletes for dates and times of their strength and conditioning as well as their practice times. For more information regarding those sports feel free to touch base with the individual head coach. Swimming and Diving (Talyna Neff, Talyna.neff@risd.org ), Girls Golf (Dan Nichols, dan.nichols@risd.org ), Boys Golf (Mark Boone, mark.boone@risd.org ).
It is imperative that even though a student may be a virtual athlete they must check in with their coach and receive daily workouts. They have been provided through team builder and our head strength coach (Fred Murphy, fredrick.murphy@risd.org ). Please remember just because I am a virtual athlete it does not mean I don’t have to do anything.
This is also a reminder to all parents that we provide two early morning buses (a Liberty JH route and an Apollo JH route) for those athletes who need to be here by 7am. For more bus information and bus pickup stop areas contact our bus coordinator (Scott Sellers, scott.sellers@risd.org )
Last item, parents if we want to have a great athletic season with minimal issues we need your help. As you are well aware our students like to socialize, but if we are to contain this virus till we get a vaccine we cannot have our athletes going to large gatherings, hanging out at pool parties, going places where there are people we don’t even know. The more we can keep this from happening the better chance we all have at getting through this season. The community and parents that are able to control this the best will be the same communities and teams that will have a successful year!!
Let’s all do the very best we can for our children.
Per the UIL COVID-19 risk mitigation guidelines, Richardson ISD may allow spectators to attend games, contests, or events within a maximum 50% capacity limitation, provided that appropriate spacing between spectators is maintained according to protocol, and according to the following:
• Spectators, audiences, fans, and media are required to wear face coverings as described in Executive Order GA-29.
• Family groups should maintain at least six feet of distance from other groups at all times, including the process of admission, seating, concessions, and restrooms.
• Pathways for spectator entry and exit should remain unobstructed.
Due to capacity limitations, Richardson ISD will be unable to continue the tradition of season tickets/reserved seating for the 2020 varsity football season. We value the commitment of our fans in all four learning communities and will honor all current seat reservations starting in 2021 (as long as we are not under a capacity limitation).
We are currently working on finalizing the procedures that will outline how it will be determined which fans will be able to attend games/athletic contests. Our number one priority is to allow parents/guardians of students who perform or compete to attend.
