WMS Core Class Updates
Social Studies
- 6th: This week students will analyze cultures through religion. The students will examine/analyze the beliefs, customs, and traditions of different religions around the world,and answer the question: How does religion (the cause) influence (effect) a person’s culture? Students will take the unit four exam on Friday. Students will also have a final exam, which is designed to replace their lowest summative grade.
- 7th: During the final week of the semester, the main focus will be on the final exam, which will cover the entire semester. Monday and Tuesday will be spent reviewing. Watch Schoology for test review files. Remember, the final exam grade will only be used to replace your lowest test grade.
- 8th: This week, we completed our unit over the Government & the U.S. Constitution as they turned in their summative projects. They also completed their Geography Test #2 today in class. Next week, we will review the information we’ve learned throughout the year as we prepare for our semester exam.
RELA
- 6th: Students will find textual evidence such as facts and examples that supports an author’s claim as we review over argumentative text. Towards the end of the week students will do review activities.
- 7th: This week students will continue their daily SSR and reading responses. They will also take their final exam and review annotation strategies.
- 8th: Finals week and early dismissal on Thursday and Friday. Students will review annotation strategies and take their final summative over informational text. Students will also review and practice how to write and follow Procedural Texts.
Science
- 6th: 6th grade students will be taking finals next week on Wednesday, December 15th. Next semester we will start our unit on balanced and unbalanced forces.
- 7th: 7th grade students will be taking finals next week on Wednesday, December 15th. Next semester we will finish up body systems and start dissections! If you have boxes of gloves we would love the donations!
- 8th: 8th grade students are finishing up their lab summative this week. They will be reviewing and working on their final next week. Finals will be based on class periods.
Math
Math: Math Club Holiday Party is on Monday 12/13/2021 from 4-5pm in the Library.
- 6th: Students will be reviewing and preparing for their Fall Semester Final exam. Students will also receive feedback on their academic progress in Math so far this year and learn how to analyze their own data.

- 8th: Students will be reviewing and preparing for their Fall Semester Final exam. Mrs. Cauley will be visiting all Algebra classes to talk about academic integrity and expectations for the Spring Semester.

21-22 WMS Yearbook Information
The 2021-2022 yearbook is on sale at www.balfour.com right now for $40.
On January 1, 2022, it will increase to $45.
Once we are sold out, we cannot order more yearbooks.
Student ads are also on sale. These are first come, first serve. Ads are to be purchased through the Balfour link above, and need to be completed by February 1, 2022.
WMS Rosebuds
Rosebuds will be hosting their Holiday Mixer for members after school on December 13, 2021.

WMS Library/Media Center
- Battle of the Books T-shirts can be purchased for $10 on the Library website. Please make sure to place your orders on or before Dec. 1st and pay attention to the sizes when you order. (We have both Youth and Adult sizes.)
- Starting in the spring semester, our campus will be starting a new after school club called, Girls Who Code, which is a nationwide program aimed at bridging the gender gap in the technology field. Any girl interested in learning the basics of coding and the language of coding should drop by the Library to sign up with Ms. Oliver. More information about this opportunity will be available in the coming weeks.

UIL Activities, AVID, STUCO, & Athletics
WMS Theater Department
- Theatre 2 is taking their production The Rainbow Fish on the road to our feeder elementary schools! (FCE, ACE, & SWE)!
- UIL One Act Play has a MANDATORY work day on Saturday, December 11 (9 am - 2 pm)
- UIL One Act Play is in rehearsals and will perform on January 21 @ KPark.
- Theatre classes are currently accepting donations of (unscented) garbage bags, brown paper grocery bags, and duct tape of all colors and patterns.
Band
Band: Winter Concert Wednesday December 15th Beginners and Honors Band 6:00 and Concert and Symphonic Bands 7:30 WMS Gym. Come one come all help us Ring in the Holiday Season.
Reminder: Beginners have 1 last After school Rehearsal on Tuesday Dec 14th.
Choir
Please come out and support the WMS Choral Department at our upcoming Winter Concert for our final performance of the semester! Attendance for choir students is mandatory and will be a summative grade. The details are listed below:

Woodcreek Dance
- On Tuesday, December 9, the Lionettes Dance Team performed at the 30th annual City of Humble Christmas Parade. The Lionettes marched together with RMS, CMS, AMS, TMS, and WLMS dance teams from Humble ISD. It was a great community celebration!

Morning Wandering & Tardy Consequences

- Assigned After School Extended D-Hall...Also, other consequences may be assigned by the grade level assistant principal.
Below are the consequences that will be assigned for tardies:
- 1st & 2nd Tardy: Warnings
- 3rd & 4th Tardy: Parent Phone Call & After-School Detention
- 5th & 6th Tardy: Parent Conference & Thursday Class Assigned
- 7th+ Tardy: ISS Assigned and Intervention Planned w/Parents
**All tardies will be cleared at the conclusion of each 9-week grading period**
WMS CELL PHONE POLICY
Cell phones must not be visible during school hours unless they are being used in the classroom for instructional purposes, as determined by the teacher.
- 1st Offense: Parent will be contacted & the phone will be returned to the student at the end of the day.
- 2nd Offense: Parent will be contacted & the phone will ONLY be returned to the parent.
- 3rd Offense: Parent will be contacted, the phone will ONLY be returned to a parent/guardian, & ISS will be assigned to the student.
- 4th Offense: Parent will be contacted, cell phone will be checked-in daily & returned to the student at the end of the school day.
