CARLSON COURIER
Champions Under Construction
Greetings Champions,
Well, as if celebrating our 10th birthday wasn't enough fun we followed it up with another exciting event that we've been waiting over two years for. Thank you everyone for coming out and celebrating the return of the Boo Bash Friday night. And a very special thank you to the awesome "Boo Crew" PTO for all their hard work and many hours spent to make this night happen and such a spectacular event. We appreciate all you do for our Champion Families. Also, thank you on behalf of all the staff and students and a special recognition to our volunteers that came out Friday night for Trunk or Treat (I wish I took more pictures; your trunks and all the time spent to decorate and make them look spooktacular was much appreciated; #dadsclubshowedout) and helped give our kids something special to remember. I hope you all had a great time! I know we sure did! And the kids looked like they got lots of candy and prizes to kick off the Halloween weekend right! And we can't leave out our pumpkin decoraters. Thank you to all of the participants in the pumpkin decorating contest. There were some really creative and awesome looking pumpkins. Great job to our winners for all their hard work.
In addition to all of that our Student council was hard at work selling and making Boo grams. Thank you to Mrs. Murrieta, Sanborn, Roby and all council members for all of your hard work to make this a huge success. Then on Wednesday we celebrated our October Birthday Book Club participants. Thank you to everyone that attended and to all of you parents for donating a new book.
Coming up this week: of course, it's Halloween tomorrow. Just a friendly reminder you can dress festively but no costumes at school please. After school tutoring starts next Tuesday and will be every Tuesday and Thursday from 3:00 - 4:00pm after school. We will start with teacher recommendations first and open up to more students once we get up and running. Those students should have received a permission slip from their teacher or this week. 3rd graders (in the classic program) will be heading over to the Chandler Museum, and on Friday PTO is back for another Fun Friday with a special Milk and Cookies treat.
Finally, don't forget our Veteran's Day celebration is coming up next Thursday, November 10th at 9:00 AM. All Veteran's and their families are invited to celebrate with us on the basketball courts and then in the media center for some refreshments and snacks. If you have any memorabilia or artifacts, we would love to showcase them for students to see. You can coordinate with your child's teacher for drop off and pick up of items (please no valuable family heirlooms unless you want to bring them on the day of to show the kids).
Sincerely,
Mr. Morgan

On the Horizon:
- Veteran's Day: is on November 10th this year and Friday is the holiday so there is no school on this day. We will still celebrate similarly as last year but a day early. All Veteran's are invited to attend and be honored, so pass the word on to any relatives to save the date.
- Thanksgiving Holiday: No School November 23rd - 25th
- A+ Site Visit: December 14h and 15 a committee of Judges from the Arizona Education Foundation will be on campus to observe, interview and determine if we will be awarded our A+ School of Excellence designation for the 2nd time! Fingers crossed.
Friendly Reminders
- Students are not allowed to wear Halloween costumes to school on Monday. They are allowed and encouraged to wear them to the Boo Bash on Friday evening though.
- Please be alert during pickup and drop off and not on cell phones or distracted. It’s always best to be as safe as possible and be mindful of others during these times. Thank you for your help with this.

Hope Week Is Coming Up: November 14th - 18th.
HOPE week is where students learn about hope and what it means. Mrs. Thelen and our staff will be providing some fun activities to help students take some time to think of things they hope for. Positive thinking ties into many attributes of success and happiness and by incorporating it, our HOPE is that our students will be confident, think positively and work toward helping achieve the things they hope for. More information about Hope Week and the Spirit Days that accompany it will be sent home this week.
