Virtual Make Up Day - Monday, February 10th

Monday, February 10th is our second Virtual Make Up Day for the days missed due to Hurricane Dorian. Your child's teacher should have already emailed you with instructions and the students should have brought home all that is needed to complete the assignments. Teachers have reviewed with the students what is expected and all assignments are appropriate for the students to complete independently or with a minor amount of assistance.

You may access the assignments later this weekend on our official school website.

8th Grade - Physical Science Honors

The 8th grade has been studying Forces and Newton's Laws of Motion in science. Students created a robotic hand to see how the hand anatomy combines the two ideas of force moving our hands. They learned hand anatomy and that muscles attach to tendons and tendons attach to bone. When the muscle contracts it pulls on the tendon which pulls on the bone and moves the fingers.

Physical Education

The 1st graders were running machines this week in PE. They kept moving by playing a game called Couch Potato.

Discovery Lab

The Kindergarten students were working on weights and sandpaper today to learn about force and friction.

Feast of St. Blaise

Thank you Msgr. Laughlin and Deacon Galo for visiting the students on the Feast of St. Blaise for the Blessing of the Throats.

8th Grade - Visit to John Paul the II Catholic School

The 8th grade students had a great visit to JPIICS this week. Thank you to the student ambassadors that gave excellent tours today!

Spring Soccer Info from Mr. Benning

Parents,

I am writing to you about our Spring Sports programs. I have nine soccer games scheduled this year as well as the end of year Low Country Tournament at JP II. All practices will be held at Chaplin Field in Hilton Head with the exception of the first three which will be in the gym.

Shelby Basciano will be back taking over the girls’ program and Mike Arnold will be the boys’ coach again.

We will have the Spring Sports Meeting on Tuesday, February 18 at 5:00 pm in the gym. I have attached to this email, the permission/waiver form, physical form and the tentative master schedule. The dates are on the school website as well.

If you have any questions, please contact me. Thanks for your support of St. Francis athletics.
