Food Service Updates
The food service department is happy to be able to provide all meals to all students for free this year! This is a Government grant that allows us to do that. Along with the grant money there are guidelines we must follow. This Grant allows for only one complete breakfast and lunch per student per school day.
A breakfast includes: 2 Grains or 1 grain and one protein item, 1 cup fruit/vegetable and Milk. To be a complete meal 3 out of the 4 items must be taken and one of the items must be a fruit or vegetable.
School Lunch is made up of 5 food groups. These groups are whole grain, protein foods, vegetables, fruit and Milk. To be a complete meal 3 out of the 5 food groups must be taken and one must be a fruit or a vegetable.
Only one entrée is allowed for both meals. Students may purchase additional entrees or meal components at ala carte pricing.
Any questions please feel free to contact the Food Service office at 810-591-9449 or email at lgrant@lakefentonschools.org.

Drop off and Pick Up UPDATES
- We've improved our time and complete our pick up process by 4 PM! This is great as we are only about 5 minutes behind the ending time of our old process.
- We understand that folks may have to wait a couple minutes more, however, the roads and neighborhoods are now much safer.
- As many of you know, we NO LONGER have to split up into two lanes. Pick whichever lane you'd like!
- We are asking all students wait for the siren and for ALL CARS come to a complete stop before entering cars. If the students who are in the back of the line see students entering cars in the front of the line, they may be tempted to do the same. This creates an unsafe environment as cars may still be moving at the end of the line.
Thank you so much for your patience as we have many more students being transported by vehicles than in the past.
HELP WANTED!
We are also in need of Academic Interventionists, as well.
Please visit the link above for access to openings in ALL buildings. If you have questions about any of our job postings, please contact the building principal, Mrs. Conover.
Important Message- Reading and/or Math Support Is Available!
Our school has a team of teachers and aides who provide reading and math interventions to students who qualify and may need additional assistance. Some students receive interventions throughout the school year while others may only need help from time to time. We have trained staff who can provide these necessary interventions.
Students who receive this support, often referred to as Title One or LLI, are not removed from core instruction. Instead, they mainly receive support during non-instructional times such as silent reading time. The interventions are conducted in both small group settings and/or within the general education classroom. You will be informed if your child is receiving these services so please look for a special “Parent/Student Compact” coming soon.
If you do not want your child to receive this support, please contact either your child’s teacher or Mrs. Conover, principal by October 2, 2021. (This information has been previously shared).

Change In End Of Day Pick Up?
Any bus changes must be approved by the principal at least 24 hours in advance. Students are not allowed to take alternative buses home unless their is an emergency situation. Please do not use bus transportation as a means of transporting friends for after school social or extracurricular events. Our buses have capacity limits and we cannot add students to bus routes. We care about the safety of our students and therefore must closely monitor ridership on our school buses.
