4B's Semester 1 Newsletter 2019
A Message from Mrs Buenaventura
Welcome to our first newsletter for 2019. Semester 1 has been an exciting, fun and productive time for both students and myself in 4B. We have worked extremely hard while still having lots of fun along the way. I am very proud of the efforts that each student has demonstrated in all learning areas this semester and the friendships and support they have offered to each other. I am looking forward to seeing all students continue to grow and learn during semester 2.
Literacy
“Today a reader, tomorrow a leader.” – Margaret Fuller
Each day students engage in a variety of literacy activities, which includes Guided Reading and Writing.
During Guided Reading students enhance their reading and comprehension skills and complete their reading contracts enabling them to work independently. Students have enjoyed reading with our buddy class KL, which is not only enhancing their own reading skills but also developing their leadership skills.
This semester in writing students created their own narrative based on characters entering a 'secret door' and produced a fabulous speech about the importance of multiculturalism. Each student presented their speech to the class, with Valentina and Isla being our class winners. Valentina was then chosen to be the winner for Year 4! An amazing achievement. Students are now writing an informative text based on research they are conducting in science.
