A Message From Heather Patterson, GRHS Principal

Happy Sunday GRHS Longhorns,

This quote is EVERYTHING! GRHS Campus Coordinator Coach Cavallo's mantra has always been F.A.M.I.L.Y. which stands for Forget About Me I Love You...I believe this rings truer than ever now for our Longhorn Nation Family! We have proven beyond any doubt that TOGETHER we are stronger, steadfast, and resilient when it comes to any uncontrollable circumstance that we face. We also showed the world that staying true to our purpose, protecting and loving each other, and being united as ONE LONGHORN FAMILY, we are unstoppable. For that, I am forever grateful to our students, staffamily, parents, law enforcement, and entire community for the outpouring of love and support you continue to show.

Over this past week, I hope that you were able to unplug and focus on the people that mean the most to your heart and are ready to finish these next three weeks strong. Yes, that's right it will be a fast three weeks...so buckle up, final exams will be here soon and then another nice long break to create memories with your family and friends once again! If you were absent the Friday before break, you probably have makeup work to complete, but the absence will NOT count against you for exemptions.

It should be no suprise that safety and security is still a top priority to me. Please make sure you are wearing your 22-23 GRHS ID at ALL TIMES when you enter this building. Those phones need to be put away and your ears need to be CLEAR of the airpods/headphones in the hallways. This will ensure that you can CLEARLY HEAR ME when I have to make a safety announcement, just like I did on Thursday when we were forced to quickly put 2800 people into lock down in under 3 minutes during a lunch time transition. You did a great job, but it is critical that you are adhering to this expectation every day, so I can keep you as safe as possible while you are in my care. Parents, I need your support with enforcing this.

Thanks to our Longhorn parents for the 150+ pies that were donated as a Thanksgiving treat. We sure felt the love and were able to take it home to share our own personal family for a holiday treat! Your giving heart is amazing and we are so thankful for you! Thanks to our PTO for organizing, decorating, shopping, and making this happen for our staffamily!

If you have ANY OUTSTANDING FINES (for the extra ID's or library books) they need to be cleared this week or you will NOT be eligible for semester exemptions. The fine list is printed by student ID and posted on the library and cafe windows. Please stop by the library from 8:00am-8:15am or during lunches to clear your name off the list so that you will be eligible for your exemptions! There has been emails going out and phone calls being made. It is your responsibility to get this taken care of. Please bring cash to the library and Mrs. Rubin will give you a receipt showing you are clear. Thanks to everyone that has already taken care of this!

Weekly ID Reminder:

ID's MANDATORY! $5 replacement charges in place now. The first free ID (lanyard and protective case) have all been passed out. This MUST be worn visibly on the top half of your body EVERY DAY! I have been announcing this EVERY SINGLE MORNING. If you do not have one, this is on you. You have had MANY opportunities to correct this, so now it's your turn to be responsible. Please scan the Blue/Yellow QR code in this newsletter, in the classroom, or hanging in the front of the school to buy one. We will continue to do ID sweeps, and anyone without one will be charged $5 and given a new one. This is NOT optional, as it is part of dress code, but more importantly a safety measure. If you keep losing it you will KEEP being charged. You (and your parents) will be getting weekly "fine" email reports, and your parents will be called at 3 weeks and 6 weeks. Not paying is not an option, and there will be a hold placed on your final semester grades and exemptions will NOT be an option.

WEARING YOUR ID IS MANDATORY EVERY DAY FOR STAFF AND STUDENTS. $5 REPLACEMENT CHARGE

Student badges will serve as the student ID and SmartTag all in one card. With this ID our GRHS students are able to ride the bus, purchase breakfast/lunch, check out library books, able to use their personal devices (phones/airpods, etc) during lunch and advisory.

Refusing to wear your ID visibly on the top half of your body, is not an option, and will result in the consequences stated on the consequence chart below. Please make sure you are wearing your OWN ID.

Every GRHS student has been gifted an ID, protective plastic cover, and lanyard. It is imperative that our Longhorns adhere to this expectation, as this is part of the daily dress code for staff and students. If you need another badge or lose this one there is a $5 replacement cost. This is NOT optional, it is part of dress code. You can pay by cash or it will be charged to your student library account, for EACH replacement you need. Please note that a hold will be placed on your semester grades, transcripts, and exemptions if this fine is not cleared before Thanksgiving Break.

Need a REPLACEMENT ALREADY?

If you are needing to PURCHASE ANOTHER student ID, please use the QR code (above) to request one. You can either pay $5 cash when you pick it up, or we will charge your school library account if you do not have cash. Emails will be sent in Skyward to parent and student emails each time you are charged.

Please Review the Early Pick Up Procedures!
