Testable Question, IV and DV, Hypothesis
Testable Question: How does the type of circuit affect the strand of Christmas lights with a burned out bulb? IV: Parallel Circuit DV: Number of Bulbs Hypothesis: If the Christmas lights are arranged in a parallel circuit, then when one bulb bursts, the other bulbs won't light up.
Parallel Circuit
Observations
I noticed that all of the bulbs are lit up brightly.
Parallel Circuit (One bulb removed)
Observation and Hypothesis 2
I noticed that when one bulb is removed, the other still light up.
Series Circuit
Observation
I noticed that the lights were all lit up.
Series Circuit (One bulb removed)
Observation
I noticed that when one bulb bursts, the others don't stay lit because the circuit is not complete.
Data Table
Conclusion
In conclusion, a parallel circuit is the best series to use because when one bulb bursts, the others still light up. Also, the bulbs are brighter. In a series circuit, the bulbs are not very bright. When a bulb bursts, the others don't stay lit up.
