CANNON CONNECTION
A newsletter for Cannon Elementary families - 2018-2019
WEEK OF NOVEMBER 5, 2018
Hi Cannon Parents!
We have two more weeks before our students and families will enjoy a week-long Fall Holiday break - November 19th-23rd. During these two weeks, there are several upcoming events we want to make sure our families are aware of. More information about each of these events can be found in this week's newsletter/calendar of events below.
- Cannon Spelling Bee will be held in December and all of our 4th & 5th graders who are interested in participating will sign up to take the pre-test soon. See information in this newsletter about this process.
- Volunteer Trainings will be held this week for any parents who are interested in volunteering at Cannon. Plan to attend either training on 11/6 - 8:00-9:00 am OR 11/9- 1:30-2:30 pm.
- 2nd Grade Musical Performance is scheduled for Thursday, November 15th. Mark your calendars!
- Grandparent's/Grandfriend's Day will be held on Friday, November 16th from 8:00-10:00 am. This will be our 3rd year to host this event and we can't wait! We had over 375 guests attend last year and it was such a memorable day! Please see information in this newsletter to RSVP for a Grandparent/Grandfriend to attend this event!
- HALFWAY THERE! PTA's goal for this year's a Read-A-Thon is to raise $10,000 and we are over halfway there!! Thank you to all that have already donated and please continue to share Information about this unique fundraiser with family and friends who want to help support your child and our school. The money that is raised will support ongoing student programs, as well as staff & student enrichment. Students will receive prizes based on funds raised and minutes spent reading. This is a GREAT way to encourage wonderful reading habits for your child(ren) AND support our school! There are some awesome prize incentives, including Principal for the Day; Lunch & Limo; and selecting prizes from the Prize Patrol! If our students exceed the goal of $10,000, there will be a school-wide celebration that will involve some "pies in the face" of Mrs. Blizzard & other staff!
Thank YOU for all you do to support our students, staff, and school!
Proud to be your principal,
Mrs. Blizzard
