PCMS Weekly Update
May 21, 2021
Good Afternoon PCMS Families ~
We finally made it to the last week of what's been the strangest and longest school year ever. Usually, we're saying how it feels like "just last week" we were showing 6th graders how to open a locker, maneuvering through lunch, and watching the first volleyball and football games. This year, it feels like those things happened years ago. Knowing that it was anything but typical, thank you for staying with us and helping us do what we felt was best for your child. Not much of it was easy, and not everything was perfect - but we made it through together, and we look forward to a "more normal" next year! Monday and Tuesday are business as usual until Wednesday, when we'll clean out lockers for the last time. (Who knows what treasures we might find;)
Thank you again for everything this year, and GO PIRATES!!
Look what happened at PCMS!
In 6th-grade ELA, students worked in small groups to design a food truck. They had to brainstorm a business name and slogan. Then they created a menu and designed the interior and exterior of the truck. Today they went around to each truck and practiced taking orders, figuring totals, and adding a tip. To complete the unit, KC Whip & Company will be here Monday. There were many creative designs! #pcmsproud
PCMS Spring Social - Tonight! (PCMS “Students” Only)

Important Year End Notes from the Nurse
If your student is now over the age of 11, they can receive their Meningococcal (MCV) vaccine and their Tetanus, Diphtheria & Pertussis (Tdap) vaccine, both of which are required for his/her 8th-grade year per Missouri State Law. We are trying to collect these before the end of this school year, so Fall Registration will go more smoothly. ***Updated immunization records may be brought to the Health Room before the last day of school, faxed to 816.858.3748, or emailed to bundrig@platteco.k12.mo.us.***
End of Year Medication Pick-Up
The Platte County R-3 School District medication policy does NOT allow medications to be sent home with a student NOR can they be kept in the Health Room over the summer. Therefore, medications must be picked up by an adult and may be picked up in the Health Room during school hours.
If you would prefer to have the school dispose of your child’s medications at the end of the school year, please notify the school nurse, Ginger Bundridge, at bundrig@platteco.k12.mo.us. (Medications remaining in the Health Room at noon on the last day of school, May 26, will be properly disposed of by the nurse.)
