General Application Information

Pratt is closed for winter break from December 24 through January 1.Please do not send FEDEX packages to arrive during this period.as no staff will be on campus to accept them. You may, however, send items by regular mail during this period.

Online Application (online required) with fee of $50; international applicant fee is $90. The online application is here.


Transcripts should be sent by your school either by mail or by using Naviance to submit electronically. The mailing address is below.

Results of the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT 1) or the American College Testing Program (ACT) with writing. International applicants, see item #7 below.

Optional letter of recommendation. This is no longer required. A reference form is downloadable if your reference prefers a form. Your recommendation must be submitted by mail by the recommender.

What We Need to Prepare

Portfolio: A visual or writing portfolio is required for all majors but construction management. Portfolios must be submitted at pratt.slideroom.com. View Portfolio Requirements.

Essay: The essay question is included in the application. Describe when and how you became interested in art, design, writing, architecture, or the particular major to which you are applying. Describe how this interest has manifested itself in your daily life. The essay should be 250–500 words.
