Mrs. Dawes/Ms. Fortuin's Class
The students built houses out of many different materials. We tested how strong they would be in wind conditions. Students tested the winds using their breath, folders and then a leaf blower. There were 3 house left standing.
Mrs. Pieper's Class
Mrs. Pieper's second grade class ended their study of ancient Greek civilization with a Greek foods tasting party. The students enjoyed trying some new foods!
In this science lesson, the students in Mrs. Pieper's second grade class investigated the effects of rocks tumbling in a river. Based on their observations, they constructed an explanation for why there is sand at a beach. In the activity students pretended to be a river and tore up pieces of construction paper to model what happens to rocks as they travel along the river from the mountain top to the ocean.
Mrs. Porrovecchio's Class
Mrs. Porrovecchio’s class reviewed place value skills with a fun mitten activity. Students had to fill mittens with cubes to see how many fit. They made the cubes in groups of 10 to practice counting tens and ones.
