Principal's Note
Parents, Families, Guardians:
Conferences for all students:
Have you signed up for your family-teacher conference yet? We have opened sign ups for all and are planning to meet our goal of having 100% of our students signed up by or before March 6th.
We are currently at just under 50% signed up - so we need many of you! Please reach out to your teachers or call the main office at 262-970-2800 to set up a time!
Celebrate Reading!
This coming week is READ ACROSS AMERICA WEEK!
A whole week to celebrate our favorite activity....reading!! Here are the events that we will have at the school in celebration of reading:
Monday: Students will begin to create their own class books in class this week! All class books will be shared in the library with other classes once complete!
Tuesday: Dress for Success Day & many guest readers will visit classrooms
Wednesday: Read my Shirt Day & Buddy Class Bookmark projects
Thursday: PJ Day! Cozy up with a good book
Friday: Dress Like Your Favorite Book Character Day
During National Read Across America celebrations, students, teachers, parents, and community members around the nation come together to read books and celebrate the joy of reading — join us! If you'd like to come in as a guest reader to your child(ren)'s class, please reach out to the teacher to schedule a time!
Our friendly attendance tournament has begun! Week one results:
After the first week of the March Madness attendance tournament, the classrooms moving on in the competition are....
Podewils’ Possi vs Lenz’s Learners
Mayszak Madness vs DeRusha’s Dinosaurs
Dorow Darlings vs The Crayfish Crawl (from Mrs. Zahn’s class)
Sexton’s Squad vs *The Wildcard Team*
*The Wildcard Team* returning to the competition is Team Greg (from Mrs. Greger’s class)!
Eliminated teams have two opportunities to return to the competition as a Wildcard Team next week by earning the highest attendance percentage of the week.
What do you need to do to prepare for week two? Nothing extra, just help us by getting your children to school each day! Classrooms will face off based on weekly attendance percentages by class. Our current building % average for the year is 92.6% and our goal is to have 95% average by the end of the year. It's better when we're all together - let's get here everyday!
Special Incentive: ANY class (in this weeks "games" or not) with a weekly % of 95% or higher will get a special treat!
Upcoming Events:
- Friday, March 6th - Shamrock Dance!
- Monday, March 9th @ 6pm - PTO Meeting
- March 11th or 19th - **Mandatory Family Teacher Conference**
- March 23-27 - Spring Break- no school for students
Thank you for your support and for choosing Whittier. We are honored to work with your children everyday.
