The Mustang Roundup

December Edition

Monthly Update

Oh, the weather outside is freezing!! As we approach winter and Christmas break, we are experiencing snow and cold weather! Please make sure your child is wearing weather appropriate shoes and clothing each day. Also, please make sure your child arrives at school with a coat and any other winter accessories they may need. If you need any assistance with winter clothing, please contact Mrs. Cole in the office.

Christmas Break

Christmas break will take place between December 26th-January 5th. We hope that you all enjoy time with your family and friends! Please make sure to continue reading with your child and complete any i-Ready lessons that you can.

We are so very thankful for our little community and school. We truly believe that we are blessed with the most amazing students and families and are lucky to serve our community. We deeply care for each one of our students and are eager to help support them on their way to educational success. Thank you for sharing your child with us and allowing us to make a difference in each one of their lives. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Snow Days

Snow, Snow, Snow!

If a snow day does present itself, we do our best to communicate this information with you as quickly as possible. Following the decision to close school for the day, the superintendent contacts local news stations to help inform our community. Each teacher is then notified through our school phone tree. Families of students who ride the bus will be notified by their bus driver. Students who either walk to school or get dropped off by a parent will be notified by their classroom teacher.

Christmas in Melba

Christmas in Melba will be on December 7th from 6:30pm-8:00pm. We are so excited to involve our school with the annual Melba Christmas Tree Lighting. Every family in our school will be provided with a small ornament to decorate and represent their family as being an important part of the Melba community. Don't forget to decorate your ornament and have it placed on the Melba Christmas Tree by the Legion Hall before 8:00pm. We are better together! Let's show our Melba spirit!

Mustangs SHINE!

Last month we moved to the "I" in SHINE. The "I" stands for invest in yourself. Students focused on what investing in yourself means and what types of ways they can do this throughout the day. When students or classes were caught investing in themselves, they earned a star for their grade level. The winning grade level that had the most stars for November was second grade!! They earned themselves a hot cocoa party! Way to go!

November Mustangs of the Month

Each month, every teacher will be nominating a student that demonstrated the qualities of SHINE! Here are the students that were trying hard every day and investing in themselves for the month of November:

Melba Volleyball Presentation!

After winning the State Volleyball Championships, we were fortunate to have our very own Melba Mustangs come down to present to our first-grade students about teamwork, sportsmanship, hard work, and grit. Our students were so excited to learn all about the path it took to winning a state championship and the qualities it takes to represent our school and our community. Thank you Kendall, Tariah, and Emma for the amazing presentation and congratulations to our Melba Volleyball Team!
