Mission and Vision Statement
The mission of Jefferson County Upper Elementary School is to provide a 21st century learning environment that produces civically, responsible scholars that are college and career ready.
The vision of Jefferson County Upper Elementary School is to foster an enthusiastic, creative community of scholars ready to influence change in the world.
Dear Families and Community Members:
One week down, and two more to go before MAAP Testing! The first MAAP test is 10 days away on May 3, 2021. Parents we ask that you encourage your child to continue doing their best as we prepare for this assessment.
Chromebooks will go into kiosk mode which means students will not be able to use them for anything other than testing. Students should complete all missing assignments due to the Chromebook being disabled until testing ends. Instructional packets will be issued to students at school on testing days.
It is now time to pay Chromebook fees. The fee is $45 for one child and $5 for each additional child. This money should be paid to the school secretary. If you have more than one child, pay the fee to one secretary. All fees should be paid in full by April 30, 2021.
We will begin wearing our MAAP Tshirts Monday, April 19, 2021. Details will be in your scholar's email.
A big thanks to our parent participants for the April meeting. If you missed it, we want you to know beginning school year 2021-2022, JCUE will be offering a Computer Science course in which scholars can earn a carnegie unit towards high school graduation! If you would like more information on this course, please contact me.
Your voice matters! Please take the Annual Consolidated Needs Survey below (Jefferson CNA). Once you click the link, select survey to get started.
Thank you for being a supportive member of the JCUE school community.
Cohort B- ALL scholars with last names K to Z will attend school in person on Tuesdays and Thursdays. K-Z must log in from home on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
Friday is a virtual learning day for all scholars.
Comprehensive Benchmark Assessment Schedule
FOSTERING ACADEMIC INDEPENDENCE: I DO, WE DO, YOU DO
Help your child become more independent with their schoolwork by employing an “I do, We do, You do” approach.
- I do: Model the approach or strategy for your child. Explain the strategy you’re using, demonstrate using it successfully, and think aloud to make the strategy explicit.
- We do: Practice the strategy together while offering feedback and support.
- You do: Remove yourself from the equation and let your child practice the skill on their own.
Students learn sooner from concrete modeling. Time spent up-front modeling an approach or behavior will reap rewards down the road as your child gains independence.
