HOME ACCESS CENTER (HAC)
Please check Home Access Center (HAC) on a regular basis to review your child’s grades. Alerts can be set up so that you are notified if their grade has dropped.
NHI (Not Handed In)
Please be sure that your student turns in all recovery and NHI assignments by December 15, 2017. If your child fails a test with a 69 or below, their teacher will contact you or you should contact them, regarding them having recovery for the test. The recovery for the test must take place in order to help prevent your child from failing that particular class. HAC http://www.fultonschools.org/en/sp/Pages/default.aspx
HELP SESSIONS
Please see below for the link for Help Sessions. They take place from 8:00 a.m.-8:30 a.m. or 4:05 p.m.- 4:35 p.m. For morning sessions, students must report on time. The teacher for the subject will go to the cafeteria, call the subject and walk the students to the classroom for the help session. We also have tutors from JCHS on Tuesdays from 4:05 p.m.-5:00 p.m. Please take advantage of these vital resources! http://school.fultonschools.org/ms/autreymill/Pages/HelpSessions.aspx
Also, www.khanacademy.org is a great resource for math and other STEM subjects! Please check and see if your child has it installed on their iPad. It can be found in the catalog under Khan Academy.

Students are welcome to work on organization with Mrs. Meredith Thursday mornings from 8:30-8:55 in G103. Bring binders, folders, etc. that need cleaned out.
Need extra help in a class?
REACH 1-1 tutoring will meet in the AMMS Cafeteria Tuesdays from dismissal until 5:30pm. AMMS students will work on subject specific homework and studying with Johns Creek HS student volunteers. Please be prompt for parent pick-up. Students may bring a healthy snack.
For additional information on either of these programs, please contact Fran Meredith, AMMS Graduation Coach, at meredithf@fultonschools.org.
STUDENT HEADPHONES/EARBUDS
Our classrooms are equipped with desktop computers and student personal iPads, which will be used throughout the school day integrating technology into the curriculum and providing additional personalized learning opportunities for our students. In order to work independently on these devices and not be disruptive to others, students need to use earphones. We would like to ensure that each child has their own set of headphones or earbuds for their individual use. We are committed to provide students with their classroom supply needs, but knowing that the use of specific headphones or earbuds can be very personal, if you are able, please provide your child with a set of headphones or earbuds. We wouldn’t want any of the students to miss out on any multi-sensory learning experiences.
AMMS INSTRUCTIONAL TECHNOLOGY
AMMS Instructional Technology is working to build a Virtual Reality Lab to provide these experiences for all Autrey Mill students. Through your donations, you will be providing our students at AMMS with cutting edge opportunities and preparing our students for the jobs of tomorrow.
ENGLISH/LANGUAGE ARTS
READING
Reading classes are wrapping up our in-depth analysis of the mentor text, “The Lottery” by Shirley Jackson. Students are also continuing to read choice novels. They get some time in class most days and should be reading 30 minutes per night at home. We will collect names of completed novels on January 8th for our 2nd quarter reading challenge. 3rd period won the 1st quarter, averaging nearly 8 books per student! All classes averaged at least 5 books per student, and the total for all classes was 315 books in the first 9 weeks! Awesome!
Students have started working on a one-pager project on one of their fictional choice novels that they have read this semester. We can’t wait to see the finished products when they are due on Friday, December 8th!
As we enter the chilly season, please think about sending in a box of tissues for our classroom. The donations from the beginning of the year have run out. Donations of tissues, pencils, and gently used books are always welcome!

Bonjour parents,
Please refer to Madame Sudu’s and Madame Blackburn’s emails for current lesson and assessment information. Google Classroom is also an important source for students to find various resources.
Merci beaucoup,

LATIN
Now that we have returned from the Thanksgiving Break, we are in midterm mode. We are currently working on the Stage 6 that encompasses new vocabulary, language concepts relating to tenses and time, and the role of slaves and freedmen in the Roman Empire. The midterm in December will be cumulative, but Latin itself is cumulative since it requires knowledge of previous information to continue to do well moving forward.
Dates:
December 1st – Vocabulary Quiz
December 8th – Language concepts quiz
December 11th to 15th – Study week for midterm
If you have any questions about the class, the content of this message, your child or any concerns at all, please feel free to email me and I will do my best to respond promptly.

Dear parents,
Next week we will be working on the verb “gustar” and how to create sentences saying what we like or don’t like to do. As we come to the end of our year here are some important dates to keep in mind: December 15 we will have a spoken PBA (performance based assessment) this counts for 30% of the students grade! Also, please note that our final is CUMULATIVE and we will be handing out a review packet the week before finals.
