What are we doing next week?

  • Reading – We will continue looking at books within a series. Our focus will be: looking for patterns, comparing the main character in different books, and making predictions based on past behaviors.
  • Writing – Students will return to informational writing. We will start out with a pre write to allow writers to focus on their purpose, audience, and format. Students will use 2 resources on their topic this time.
  • Word Study/Spelling - We will be working with the Latin base - "port" - meaning to carry. Students will have a quiz over these words Friday.
  • Grammar - We will review the basic rules for using capital letters.
  • Math – We will continue our unit on comparing fractions. Our test is scheduled for March 2nd.
  • Science - Students will continue learning about heat. Students will learn about materials that are good conductors of heat and materials that are good insulators. During this unit students will take a straight vocabulary test on Friday, February 19 and an end of the unit test on Tuesday, March 1st. You can study these words using the Heat Quizlet link.
