Warrior News
A Weekly Newsletter for Warrior Families and Students
April 17, 2020
Principal Message
Hey Warrior Nation,
The news yesterday about school being closed for the remainder of the year was absolutely heartbreaking. I know that I am not alone in wishing we could get back to our routines and have the halls of MHS filled with amazing students and staff again. As difficult as it was to hear, I have great faith that we will finish out our school year together in the best manner we can. The strength of our school community is what makes Muskego High School such a special place, and I believe it will continue to shine through this challenging time.
We know this news brings countless questions. We want to provide you with the updates that we have. Please understand that some decisions have not yet been finalized. We will be gathering feedback from our students and families in the coming weeks. Additionally, we are working together with high schools across the state and nation in hopes to find the most meaningful celebration opportunities for our students and families. We will continue to be patient and thoughtful in finalizing decisions as information and recommendations continue to change weekly. We truly appreciate your support as we work towards creating the best options we can.
As we continue to navigate these times, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me to share any suggestions or questions that you may have. We are all learning a lot as each week passes and we will remain fully committed to getting better each day.
Stay strong, Warriors! Challenging times can bring out the best in people. They can also reinforce resiliency and strength that will pay great dividends later in life. Continue to check on one another. Call your friends and loved ones. Continue to spread hope, kindness, and make a difference in our world like Warriors do. If you need anything please reach out. We got this. We are Warriors and we are MUSKEGO STRONG!
Take care and stay healthy.
Todd Irvine
Academic Plans and Grading
- The daily schedule of classes has been updated through the end of the school year. Yes, these are challenging times, but it is extremely important that rigorous learning opportunities continue. We remain committed to preparing every Warrior to be career, college, and community ready.
- Our grading scale will remain as it has always been. This is consistent with most high-achieving schools across the state. If there are extenuating circumstances our staff will be flexible and supportive of whatever needs exist.
Activities and Athletics
All in-person co-curricular activities and events (all games, competitions, performances, tryouts, and practices) are canceled for the remainder of the 2019-20 school year.
We know this is devastating news, and our hearts go out to everyone missing out on these important activities.
Cap and Gown Pick-up
We are creating a drive-through pick-up option for the Cap and Gowns ordered through Jostens. The date for the pick-up will be May 5th.
There will be many smiling faces there cheering you on as you drive through. Specific details about the event will be communicated to our seniors next week.
Commencement Ceremony
No decisions have been made yet. We continue to gather information and ideas from around the nation. We will also continue to monitor recommendations from the CDC and government guidelines.
We believe this event is of the utmost importance to our students, families, staff, and our community, so we will do everything we can to ensure it is the event our Warriors deserve.
We will share out information as it becomes finalized.
Prom
There have been so many events missed and we believe it remains important to do whatever we can to host some type of Prom event.
We are currently exploring the potential of hosting an event in the summer when restrictions are lifted.
We will keep you posted as we find options.
Refunds and Fees
Our district’s business office is currently working on the details on how to process all refunds.
Communication will come from the district office once the plan is finalized.
School Equipment Return, Locker Cleanout, & Personal Belongings
We are currently working on a process to return any items to school and to gather belongings from lockers in a safe and healthy manner.
Please keep all materials/textbooks at home until our process for return is finalized.
More information will be coming as plans are solidified.
Brain Behavior Research Club
We are testing the effects of time limits on students while testing taking. We are currently in the process of gathering participants to partake in our online test. Our research requires lots of students from the high school to get an accurate representation of students’ scores.
“Participants will take a short 10-20 minute quiz on patterns. The quiz will take place from May 4th - May 10th and can be done on your own time. As a reward, 10 RANDOM PARTICIPANTS WILL RECEIVE A $5 GIFT CARD. SIGN UP HERE.” This link will bring students directly to the participation form if they want to be a part of our research. We will leave a link to the ad for you also.
Thank you so much for your time.

School Lunch Update
Food Service Update Week of April 20
We are doing our best to simplify our processes as we continue to evolve and grow! Here are our changes and updates for the week of 4/20.
New this week, we are offering bulk a la carte items available for order/purchase which will be charged to the MNSD lunch account of the student only with a positive balance; sorry, we cannot offer this to those who don't have a school lunch account at this time
With the growing size of our program, we are no longer able to offer multiple day pickups and can no longer put together the full week pickup on Mondays for those who are requesting, or partial week pickup
Orders are now placed per family/group ( e.g., if you have 4 kids you can put one pickup name, and put 4 on each day for pickup orders are placed on students, not the number of meals for pickup)
Groups may order all together on one line to keep pickup simpler--in comments please note groups ( e.g., comment section if picking up for 4 families and 10 orders total could be "10 total = Jones (3), Brown (2), Green (2), Koerner (3)")
As always, please let me know if you have any questions or special accommodations!
