Interim Principal Update: A Note From Mr Tucker
How much do you earn?
A man came home from work late, tired and irritated, to find his 5-year old son waiting for him at the door.
SON: “Daddy, may I ask you a question?”
DAD: “Yeah sure, what is it?” replied the man.
SON: “Daddy, how much do you make an hour?”
DAD: “That’s none of your business. Why do you ask such a thing?” the man said angrily.
SON: “I just want to know. Please tell me, how much do you make an hour?”
DAD: “If you must know, I make $100 a day.”
SON: “Oh,” the little boy replied, with his head down.
SON: “Daddy, may I please borrow $50?”
The father was furious, “If the only reason you asked that is so you can borrow some money to buy a silly toy or some other nonsense, then you march yourself straight to your room. The little boy quietly went to his room and shut the door.
———
The man had calmed down, and started to think: Maybe there was something he really needed to buy with that $50 and he really didn’t ask for money very often. The man went to the door of the little boy’s room and opened the door.” Are you asleep, son?” He asked.
“No daddy, I’m awake,” replied the boy. “I’ve been thinking, maybe I was too hard on you earlier” said the man. Here’s the $50 you asked for.”
———-
The little boy sat straight up, smiling. “Oh, thank you daddy!” He yelled. Then, reaching under his pillow he pulled out some crumpled up bills. The man saw that the boy already had money, started to get angry again. The little boy slowly counted out his money, and then looked up at his father. “Why do you want more money if you already have some?” the father grumbled.”Because I didn’t have enough, but now I do,” the little boy replied.
———-
“Daddy, I have $100 now. Can I buy your time?
Please come home early tomorrow. I would like to have the rest of the day with you.”
………………
The father was crushed. He put his arms around his little son, and he begged for his forgiveness.
The story hits home for too many of us. We can become consumed with making a living which can make it difficult to have a life. I really had to guard against this syndrome in my own life, particularly as a high school principal. Like so many, my work week averaged around seventy hours. That left far too few hours for my family. That made no sense since the family/home is supposed to be a place of refuge. As we make our way in this world, it is important to take the time needed to address the things that truly count.
Best wishes, ct
Classroom Distractions
The teachers are concerned about the class disruption associated with "spinners", cubes and putty/slime. Students are preparing for the STAAR, to be followed shortly by final exams. The kids need to be focused. Thanks for having your child keep all spinners, cubes and putty/slime at home.
I would also ask you to remind your children that cell phones should be placed in back packs once the school day begins. The cell phone should not be accessed during the day without teacher/adult permission.
Again, thanks for your support as we focus on learning this last 20 plus days.

These students have put in lots of hours before school, during lunch, and after school. They are not only scholars, in the National Honor Society, and crazy smart...they are also athletes in multi sports, artists, thespians, in the band, part of Student Council, and members of FCA. Our LVMS students are simply the best all around young men and women.

The ladies really had a great time and learned a lot at their first tournament. I am very proud of them for speaking up for themselves and the rules in a ‘first-tournament-of-the-season’ setting. Golf is a unusual sport where the players are responsible for keeping the score and being their own referees of rules. Parents and spectators are only permitted to cheer and not to step in to help with rules decisions or coaching. It is very much a learning experience! We all look forward to traveling to Burnet next week for a chance to improve their scores and knowledge of golf.
Below is a break down of the team and individual scores. You can see that even a few strokes make a huge difference at the end! There were a total of 67 golfers.
