News for January 4-8, 2016

Science - Mrs. Sexton

I sure hope Santa is good to everyone and you all have a safe and enjoyable holiday. We will continue our study of cells when we return after Christmas. Students will be taking the Science MAP test on Tuesday, January 5th. This is the first time for administering this test and the purpose is to establish a baseline. We will be looking at growth when we take the test for the second time in the spring.


Thanks to everyone for your kind words, cards, wishes, gifts, and general acts of kindness. I count it a real blessing to be able to teach my students in ACTS. I really do appreciate all of your kindness and support! May you be richly blessed! Merry Christmas to all!

Science - Mrs. Griffin

The students will be starting the Cells Unit upon returning from Christmas Break. The students will also be taking a Science MAP on Tuesday the 5th of January. Please see Mrs. Sexton's section for more details.

Math - Mr. Smith

7th grade math students completed their chapter 7 test on Thursday. These will be graded over the weekend and posted to powerschool. I will notify students via their classroom stream when grading is complete.


Your student may have received a missing assignment report this week. The end of the nine weeks is fast approaching. Please encourage your child to make up missing work.


We will start chapter 8 upon our return from holiday.

Social Studies - Mrs. Babb

We will begin the week reviewing essential concepts related to Imperialism and test later in the week.Please check Announcements if you would like to keep up with what we are covering in class each day, and check Assignments to stay in touch with projects and other outside work.

I hope your family enjoyed one another, engaged in some family time, and found time to rest and relax.

ELA & Social Studies - Mrs. Owensby

7th Grade SS will continue their study of Imperialism. We will study the Spanish-American War and how this changed the United States

7th Grade ELA will have a new stems list and quiz when we return. They will begin new book clubs and have assigned readings. They will also begin a unit of study on argumentative writing.

Drama - Mrs. Keenan

I hope you all have a restful holiday break and get to spend a lot of time with friends and family!

Voice - Mrs. Psomas

Students are working on a "Story" about a composition. They are to find out information about the composition and the composer of the piece and why and when your piece was written. With your partner create a google slide presentation that includes: the composer's name, date of birth, a sound clip of the "piece", a description in your own words of the story. Write a dialog/skit to tell the story to our class.

Dance - Mrs. Brewington

7th dance focus: We will begin our second dance for the March performance. Please encourage your child to bring Chromebook fully charged to class and check google classroom daily. We have assignments daily on the Chromebooks.

Art - Mr. Winchester
