Celebration of Learning

Please mark your calendars for Thursday, March 5th. We will be hosting a family Celebration of Learning night. A flyer will be sent home soon giving you an idea of the various activities taking place that evening. We hope you will be able to stop by the school anytime between 5:00-7:00 to enjoy seeing student art work on display and joining in on some of the fun activities being planned.

eMPowerME testing begins on March 16th and runs through April 10th for students in grades 3-6.

What is the eMPowerME assessment? These educational assessments provide information about the skills and academic growth of students, schools and the state as a whole. They also ensure schools are held accountable for the progress of their students. The eMPowerME Assessments provide educators and parents with valuable tools to understand where every public school student is and where they may need additional support to become college and career ready by graduation.

Student attendance during testing is very important. If your child is absent during testing, your child will need to make up for the missed tests during instructional times when they return. We certainly understand students may become sick and may need to miss school. However, we encourage you to please do all you can to have your child attend school during the times their grade level is scheduled for testing. Students will not be dismissed in the middle of a testing session, so please be sure to plan accordingly.

Information from classroom teachers will be sent home to inform you of testing dates for your child. Please contact your child’s teacher if you have any questions.

Volunteer Training

If you are interested in volunteering at PES or attending a school trip with your child, you must participate in volunteer training. We often have several field trips in the spring and our yearly field day at the end of the year which many parents like to help with. You can contact the office to get the paperwork to become a volunteer sent home. Once you have returned the completed paperwork, we will process your background check and add you to the training list. We will schedule a training class once we have several people signed up to attend. The secretaries will call you to let you know when the training class will be held.
