Tablet breakage is on the rise
While everyone is using their tablets effectively, we're seeing a rise in tablet breakage. A few reminders:
- Adults should carry their tablet everywhere they go to model proper tablet usage. If you see a student violating proper tablet behavior, correct them. Nicely, of course.
- Use the Everfi Ignition app (found in the Amplify Market) as an extension activity. Ignition is a digital literacy program. The modules teach students about issues like conducting online research, cyber bullying and creating multimedia products.
- Reiterate our Tablet Tip of the Week. Additionally, these tips will run on the TV ppt and be sent to tablets.
Thank you to the teachers who continue to use the Amplify Classroom Management tools. Remember the value of formative assessment and the ease in which Amplify helps you accomplish this goal throughout a class period. Here is the breakdown from October 26-30.
Great Teaching and Learning Spotlight
Great teaching and learning is occurring in every classroom in your building. Your peers are your greatest resource. Visit their classroom during planning to keep your ideas fresh. If you have something you'd like to share, email it to me and I'll feature it in my weekly updates.
- Kudos to Mr. Norris (Allen Math) and Ms. Rindal (Allen ELA) for having their students showcase mastery using Lensoo
- Kudos to Ms. Davis (Allen CTE) for showcasing the power of grouping in her class.
- Kudos to our Canvas Coaches: Jordan @ Allen and Shanks/Holmes @ Guilford. These wonderful folks will become secondary support when I'm unavailable. They will be ready to field all questions by the end of November.
- Kudos to both Allen (Lemmons) and Guilford (Denny) Media Specs for using Canvas with their media assistants and Battle of the Books teams.
- Kudos to Ms. Yates (Guilford ELA) for utilizing Canvas
- Kudos to Guilford's admin team for using Edmodo to flip faculty meetings.
Are you nervous about trying some of the things above? Contact the teacher and ask to observe their greatness. They are happy to help.
Need to Knows
- Hey homeroom teachers - New students: Remember to ensure new students have returned their parent signature form to you. Allen, Ms. Knight is handling the form situation. However, ensure all forms get to the media spec or no tablet will be issued. Thank you for your support. You'll find the form HERE.
- Math teachers rejoice: The Moby Max app has been added to the tablet.
- Do you have problems opening Playlist Builder files on your tablet? Be sure not to include special characters (&%$, etc. - Debate&Argument) in the file name.
