What Should Be in a Student's Cum Folder?
Home Language Survey - The original HLS form that was filled out when a student first registered to attend school should be in the cum folder for all students (ELLs and nonELLs.) This form is filled out only once. If a language other than English is marked on the three student-specific questions, that student will be assessed using the WIDA Online Screener or Kindergarten Screener, and the student's scores will be used to determine placement for ELL services. Students with overall scores between 1.0 - 4.9 qualify for services as an English Language Learner.
