SEPTEMBER TO-DO LIST AND MYTH OF THE MONTH

Here are links to September's To-Do List and Myth of the Month.

September lists are not yet posted to DESE's website yet but all archived months are available at the DESE website under General Guidance

SPED TEACHER ADDITIONAL COMPENSATION

Last week we did a quick survey of our group to see if there were any districts who are providing special education teachers with additional compensation/benefits beyond what other teachers may be receiving. We received 21 responses from the group and out of those only 4 districts indicated they were providing additional stipends to special education teachers. If you are interested in knowing more specific details please send me an email (esmith@wolves.k12.mo.us) or check in with me at the conference next week or at the next LASE meeting.

DROPOUT PREVENTION TRAINING

There will be a two day Dropout Prevention Training for schools who are interested on November 1 and 2, in Jefferson City, MO. This is related to all students not just IEP students. This is for those who have not previously attended Dropout Prevention training. Please see the linked brochure for more information.

Schools are encouraged to send a team that includes an administrator, counselor, general education teacher, special education teacher, transition personnel, etc. This training is appropriate for high schools, junior high schools, and middle schools. There is no cost for the training and Dr. Gilpin is currently working out the details for a location.

They need to know at this point who is interested in attending. Please contact Cheryl Wrinkle by email if you and your school team might be interested by September 23, 2016. cwrinkle@missouristate.edu
