A Note From the Principal
Student Safety is important to us! We have received some recent reports of parents not following the traffic flow before and after school. We need your help!
We encourage everyone to utilize the marked student drop-off and pick-up areas in the morning and afternoon. Please do not drop off students in the parking lots and have them walk across the street to the school in the morning.
Parents need to stay in their vehicles for dismissal and use the colored pick up lanes (see map below). Cars are continuously moving during drop-off and pick-up times and we have no crossing guard to assist students, and others, in getting across the streets safely. Please drop your student off on the curb side in the colored lane areas. Due to student safety we ask parents to stay in your vehicle and do not walk up to get your student(s) from the dismissal areas. Thank you as we work together to continue our 10 minute dismissal!
Thank you for your help,

Pedestrian Hybrid Beacon on Journey Parkway-We need your help!
From Leander PD-How it works:
The signal light will be "dark" or no signal lights activated and drivers can continue through. When prompted by a pedestrian/crossing guard wanting to cross, the signal light will start flashing yellow-warning drivers to use caution. The signal light will go to a solid yellow letting drivers know that a red light is next so prepare to stop. Once the red light is on, it will be a steady red meaning all traffic has to stop and stay stopped. A short time later the red lights will begin to flash which tells drivers they can proceed AFTER they have first stopped and if their crosswalk is clear of pedestrians/crossing guards.
Please spread the word and help us keep our Aviators and Crossing Guards safe each day! Thank you for your support!

Second Step Tips and Tools for Parents-Thank you Ms. Lehn
Students in Kinder-5th grade benefit from daily social-emotional lessons through a program called Second Step. They have recently been learning about feelings and how to manage strong emotions. When children’s feelings are very strong, it is hard for them to think clearly and pay attention. When children are calm, they are able to learn and get along better with others.
Ask your child to name the 3 steps for how to calm down.
They are:
- Stop—use your signal
- Name your feeling
- Calm down: breathe, count, use positive self-talk.
