The Sailor Signal

Cottage Lake Elementary - September 5, 2020

A Note from Principal Welch

Dear Families,

Thank you all for your support as we launched our 2020-2021 school year! We had three great days together and we couldn't have done this without you. Thank you! Each day, we had between 96-99% attendance and participation in learning. Thank you! Attendance matters! I am here to support your student(s) and your family, so please reach out if you need support. We can do this together!

Seeing our student's faces and visiting each of their classrooms was something I've been looking forward to for months. I appreciate each of our teachers who continue to think creatively around interactive lessons and engagement. I appreciate our students who are flexible, kind, and engaged in learning. We have a great Sailor family!

If you have not signed up for a family conference with your teacher, please do so ASAP! We would like parents and students to join the conference. This is our time to learn about your student(s) and set goals for the upcoming year.

I hope you are taking time this weekend to relax and rejuvenate. We will see you again on Tuesday, September 8.

Take Care!

Jen Welch, Principal

Thank a Staff Member

Expressing gratitude can fill your cup and our staff member's cup. Positive connections between home and school foster mutual respect; in turn, creating a rich learning environment. If you're interested in sharing a quick "thank you" with someone who is having a positive impact on your student, please use this Google form to share this appreciation. I will then share with staff.

Need Technology?

Does your Cottage Lake Elementary student need a device for online learning? Please use the link below to sign up and sign the waiver. After you submit your form, Mr. Paganini will be in contact with you to set a pick-up time for you. For students in Kindergarten & Grade 1, we are issuing iPads. For students in Grade 2 through Grade 5, we are issuing Chromebooks. Students will keep these devices at home until we return to school.

Materials Pick-up

Please mark the afternoon of THURSDAY, September 17 as our Material's Pick-Up date. Timing will likely run 1:00 PM - 6:00 PM. The pick-up routine will look similar to our end-of-year pick up in June. I will assign last names to time frames for pick-up, plus provide a time from 5:00-6:00 PM for families that could not come earlier in the day.

I will share the exact time and alphabet pairings in the new few days.

Community Building Schedule, September 7-11

During this week, we start off with No School on Monday, September 7 for Labor Day.

We welcome back our students on Tuesday, September 8. Between September 8-11, our teachers will again be engaging in family conferences for larger parts of the day. Students should remember to log on each day @ 9:00 AM for a class meeting. Students will engage with their teacher until about 10:00 AM each day and then again at 3:00 PM. During the middle sections of the day, teachers are holding family meetings, eating lunch, preparing for our materials pick-up, planning for our community building weeks, along with, curriculum instruction prep.

During these larger sections of time during the days, teachers are working to prepare activities students should be engaging in. Those may be watching recorded or shared videos with response opportunities, writing, creating get-to-know-you items, etc. If you have questions, please reach out to your classroom teacher.
