Seton School Newsletter
A Year of Gratitude
January 17, 2020
From the Principal...
Dear Seton Families,
It's registration time! In your Friday folders you will find registration paperwork for the 20-21 school year. Please read the attached letter carefully as it explains some changes to tuition as well as financial aid requirements.
Wisconsin School Choice
Seton Catholic is a Wisconsin School Choice School. This means that if you meet income requirements, have a student entering 4K, K, or grade 1, and are a resident of Wisconsin you can qualify for free tuition. The application opens on February 3, 2020 and can be found at https://dpi.wi.gov/sms/choice-programs/student-applications. If you have questions regarding school choice, please don't hesitate to contact Mrs. Castillo or me.
Special Needs Scholarship Program
Beginning with the 20-21 school year, Seton Catholic will be a participant in the Special Needs Scholarship Program. Any student who has a current IEP or plan of service and is a resident of Wisconsin can apply for this program. The Special Needs Scholarship Program (SNSP) allows a student with a disability, who meets certain eligibility requirements, to receive a state-funded scholarship to attend a participating private school. The funds help us to provide necessary services for those students. More information can be found at https://dpi.wi.gov/sms/special-needs-scholarship/student-applications.
One-to-One Technology
I am excited to announce that Seton Catholic will be a one-to-one technology school this fall. This means that every student in the building will have access to a technology tool every day. Students in K-4 will have class sets of iPads. Students in grades 5-8 will have Chromebooks. Students in 4K will continue to have access to desktop computers and iPads as needed. More information regarding these devices and their use will be shared with families as we get closer to the end of the school year.
Please look for your registration materials today. We look forward to serving you into the future. Thank you for being part of our Seton School Community.
Sincerely,
Dr. Stephanie Nardi, Principal
From the School Board...
Happy 2nd Semester!
As we look back on the first semester, we have many reasons to be grateful. Each semester provides a school community with many opportunities to learn, grow, celebrate, grieve, and worship together. St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic School is no exception in this regard, and we are extremely blessed to be able to do all of these things as a community characterized by faith, hope, and love.
The school board has also had a busy semester, working hard on a strategic plan to help guide the school through the next several years. This process began this past summer, when Joe Oberbroeckling generously shared his time and talent, leading us through a ‘SWOT’ analysis (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats).
Using the information from that discussion, exit surveys undertaken with families who have left our school, and the diverse perspectives and expertise of the members of the board, we have chosen to construct our plan around four domains: Academics, Catholic Identity, Personnel, and Community Engagement. If you have any thoughts whatsoever regarding Seton’s strengths in any of those areas, or opportunities we might pursue, please do not hesitate to send me an email: schweiglp@sheboyganseton.org.
Peace and All Good,
Paul Schweigl

St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Mane Event 2020
What is Mane Event?
The Mane Event is one of our schools largest fundraisers. We have a dinner, cash bar, silent auction and live auction. Each year there is a different theme. This years’ theme is Now and Then, taking a look back at all the school’s history. We will be introducing a VIP Whiskey Bar which will include chair massages and specialty hors d’oeuvres and desserts. There will also be a live band, beer/wine tasting and all-you-can eat buffet for all!
When is Mane Event?
In Seton Cafeteria on Saturday March 14 th from 5pm-10pm
Can I help without being in charge of something?
Of course! We have quite a few volunteers who are only available to help behind the scenes. Whether it is a few hours of volunteer time or just one day, we are very appreciative.
Do I have to attend the meetings to help?
No. However, attending the meetings can help if you decide to take on a larger role, but even then is not always necessary. A lot of our communication is done through email, phone calls/text or even catching up at drop off and pick up.
Who do I contact if I want to help?
Natalie Kohlhagen – natalie.kohlhagen@gmail.com or 920-254-7616
Where is help needed this year?
1. Silent Auction – dropping off donation request letters to local businesses, calling for donations, picking up donations, making baskets and taking photos for online bidding.
2. Decorations – creating, collecting, making and buying decorations for the event.
3. Live Auction – calling businesses for larger donations to go into the live auction and bundling them together if need be.
4. Invitations/Thank you cards – ordering and sending out invitations and thank you cards to our donors and sponsors.
5. Raffle Ticket Sales – We have an amazing raffle! The office will be selling a majority of the tickets which only leaves us with needing a few people to sell tickets after masses.
6. Beer/Wine Tasting – contacting vendors, local breweries and local wineries to be at our event (Three Sheeps Brewery and Blind Horse are already committed) and creating signs to promote those vendors.
7. Whiskey Bar – helping locate a whiskey supplier, renting the furniture (couches, tables etc.) and arranging the food.
Please consider helping us out. This fundraiser CANNOT happen without volunteers.
All are welcome – parent, grandparent, aunt, uncle or family friend!
Now and Then
Seton’s 2020 spring fundraiser, The Mane Event, is themed “Now and Then”. We are asking parishioners for pictures from all of the schools including Seton, Holy Family, St. Dominic’s and St. Clement. Copies will be made and originals returned. We are creating a time line of from when the schools opened to present day. We are looking to have every school and as many years as possible represented. Thank you for all your help. Please drop off at Holy name office ATTN: Sara Lancour or email slancour30@hotmail.com.

February 13th as a Box Tops turn-in day!
Do You Have Old Eyeglasses Sitting Around?
There are millions of people in the world today who need eyeglasses to see clearly. Globally, one child in four cannot see well enough to learn to read without glasses. By age 40, 90% of adults experience a decrease in the ability to read print and need eyeglasses. Many developing countries lack the resources to manufacture quality lenses. The cost of imported eyeglasses is far beyond the means of the average citizen. Millions will fail to reach their economic, educational, and social potential without access to quality glasses.
