What and Where
MLK's March on Washington really wasn't a march, it was a political rally. The rally was advertised as, "The March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom." So thats why it is labled as a "msrch" The rally was organized by numerous organizations for civil rights and religious groups. The event was created to shine light on the social and political challenges for African Americans, and ended up shedding light on the challenges that the other minority groups faced.
Who
The people and orginizations that were involved with the march was Martin Luther King, pedestrians of all races, such as African Americans, White Americans, and Mexican Americans. The organizations were the NAACP (National Association for the Advancement of Colored People) and the SCLC (Southern Christian Leadership Conference).
Where and When
The march was located at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington D.C. on August 28, 1963.
Why this happened...
MLK's March on Washington happened because the NAACP and SCLC and other organizations simular wanted to show the United States what the African Americans faced everyday. By doing this, the brought not just light to the discrmination of African Americans but also other minorities.
The Effects...
One of the effects of MLK's March on Washington was that it was shown that the discrimination of the African Americans was a bigger issue than most of America thought. The racial tensions between the white and black people were tightened and loosened. More people felt like the black people were being treated unfairly. but more people felt like that the black people were being treated just like their-selfs.
How did the March contribute to the Civil Rights Movement
MLK's March on Washington contributed to the Civil Rights movement by showing the Government that racial problems between the Black and the White people is a big problem in the United States.
The march showed that Whites and Blacks can work alongside, not fight because they have diffrent coloured skin, and enjoy eachothers company.
