The New CWES Principal News
- Keeping our Community in the Know!
Hello from Cogburn Woods New Principal
Hello and Happy Holidays!
It comes with great pleasure that I am introducing my self to you as the new principal at Cogburn Woods. I am thrilled and honored to be part of such an esteemed community with wonderful teachers, amazing and supportive parents and students who come to school ready to learn.
Part of my goal is to continue the great pride in work that has been established here at CWES. I want to listen and learn from all stakeholders about what makes being a Cougar so wonderful. As a parent myself, I value family and the commitment a school makes to all of your students in order to create a well rounded child. Therefore, I will take the opportunity to learn from you as parents through conversations, meetings and being present in the community.
I have a vested interest in our community because I too live, shop and have a child who attends our district schools and along with you as my partner, I want CWES to have a presence in our community to be the most sought after school to attend in the area!
I would like to offer you the opportunity to read below about who I am personally and professionally along with what I believe. I do believe in you, your child and our staff!
Again, I am very excited to start in January as your new principal and if there is anything I can do, please do not hesitate to contact me. If you are not involved with our school, please take this new year to think about ways you can become more involved in our school. We want and need you to help our school to continue to grow.
Proudly your principal,
Lisa M Garosi
Principal
Cogburn Woods Elementary
#I Believe in You!
A little bit about me.....
Personally
One of the things I value is FAMILY. Family is first!
Our school is made up of wonderful families and you have families also, and I too have had the wonderful opportunity to be a mother for 18 years.
I understand how hard it is to be an educator and a parent. I am sure you will hear me speak about Madison often. She is a senior at Cambridge High School and is about to head to college in the fall. We are not sure where the journey will take her because at this point we are just gathering acceptance letters and will take it from there. I can not believe my baby is a senior! where does the time go?
Professionally
I grew up in Pennsylvania, right outside of Hershey PA. Yes, I worked right next to the chocolate factory at an amusement park called Hershey Park!
MY first teaching jobs were teaching 1 and 3rd grades in my own elementary school where I attended as a student. My 1st grade teacher was still teaching and we taught across the hall form one another.
I moved to Savannah GA as a military wife where I taught in Chatham County- teaching K,1 and then opened a new MS where I taught 6th grade. When I moved from Sav to Alpharetta I taught at Crabapple Middle teaching 8th grade. Then became a Title 1 Instructional Coach, then moving into AP at Roswell North ES, Webb Bridge Middle and then to Milton. My passion is Instruction and my love would have to be teaching K/1...although my MS friends would say I was a pretty good 8th grade teacher too. :)
What do I Value
-Establishing collaboration and team work to build
strong relationships
-Creating high expectations for all (students, staff and community)
-Setting accountability structures for all
-Crafting equal access to a rigorous curriculum for all
-Providing multiple opportunities for success
-Developing transparent communication for all stakeholders
-Empowering others to grow, lead and feel valued
Believing in You… you made all things possible here at CWES... I just want to continue the legacy with you.
Getting your input!
Learning from you is important to me.
You have been a huge part of making CWES a success and your input is valued and wanted. Another one of my goals (other than having to make major decisions) is not to make major changes this year school year until I have an idea of infrastructure of CWES .
I am asking that you take a few minutes to answer a some questions for me. The survey can be anonymous if you want it to be or you may add your name.
Below is the goggle form link.
I will also be hosting several parent coffees so we can get to know each other. I will be posting times in January.
HAPPY HOLIDAYS
Please have a wonderful winter break and take some time to unplug, take some "you" time, enjoy your family and friends and then spend some time reflecting on the job well done this first semester.
