Voice - Mrs. Fennell
It was a great week in voice class! Our voice classes will host a Bake Sale on Tuesday, October 10. Please consider sending items for our sale on Monday or Tuesday morning. Students who make donations to the sale will receive extra credit. Our next unit test is on Thursday, October 12. We will have one more opportunity to sing the National Anthem at a Brewer game on Thursday, October 19. We will meet at 4:40 to prepare for the 5:00 game. Students will receive extra credit for singing.
Science - Mrs. Sexton
We have finished our Ecology Unit. Students took the district's nine weeks test last Thursday and did an excellent job. I am very proud of the overall progress of my 7th graders. We will take a more detailed test on Ecology on Tuesday. Students have a study guide and will play a variety of review games on Monday in class. Our next unit is chemistry.
Science- Mrs. Griffin.
The students will be working on the abiotic portion of our ecology unit with a focus on soil and its properties. Students will take the district nine weeks test on Tuesday. Other grades will come from Study Island, USA Test Prep and teacher given assignments.
Mr. Creswell - Social Studies
We will be learning about the French Revolution this week. Last week I attended the South Carolina Council for the Social Studies, and had the honor of meeting 86 year old Holocaust survivor Hugo Schiller. I learned some interesting strategies which I hope to include in some of our lessons this year.
Math - Mr. Smith
7th grade math students are completing chapter 3 on percents. We will have our test on-line (Illuminate) on Tuesday next week. All the test questions will come from the homework. All the homework and their answer keys are posted to google classroom along with classroom assignments and video tutorials. Next week we will begin our study of operations with rational numbers, which will include for the first time arithmetic operations with negative numbers.
Dance - Mrs. Brewington
7th dance focus: Focus dance t-shirt money is due this Friday- Oct 13th. Students will participate in a modern technique class. Modern dance history quiz on October 10th. Please encourage your child to look at google classroom daily. Please visit https://sites.google.com/gwd50.org/actsdance/home
Social Studies & ELA - Mrs. Owensby
7th Grade SS
Students will study the French Revolution and the Napoleonic Wars.
7th Grade ELA
Students will complete their study of nonfiction. There will be a new stems list with a quiz on Friday.
Strings - Ms. Lindler
Rotation: Project presentations are happening Monday. I'm looking forward to hearing what you learned about your composer! We will begin working through the Essential Elements book again on Tuesday.
Focus: We will continue working on concert music this week! Hopefully, our third piece will arrive this week so we can begin working on that.
ELA - Mrs. Templeton
In ELA we are working on characterization and comparing two short stories by Shirley Jackson, "The Lottery" and "Charles". We will have a vocabulary quiz on Tuesday and a Stems quiz on Thursday. Their weekly article reflection will be due on Friday.
Wednesday is a 1/2 Day!
