Summer Reading Reminder from Mr. Boland and Prof. Turbo
News from our Special Education Department!
As a public charter school district, Beacon Charter Schools goes through the same review process, and is held to the same standard, as every public school district in the state of Rhode Island.
We are so pleased to report that we received official results from RIDE, and there were 0 (zero!) findings of areas in need of improvement. This is an incredible accomplishment for Beacon Charter Schools, one we can all be proud of!
Kudos to our dedicated Special Education team for being formally recognized for (what we here at Beacon already knew) being among the best in their profession in the state.
Congratulations!
Join Beacon Charter Schools' Local Advisory Committee!
What is the Local Advisory Committee?
Come and learn about some of the great community support services and resources available to your student, to ensure his/her success while in school and after he/she graduates.
This group will provide opportunities for families of students with disabilities and/or in need of social and emotional support, to connect with each other, as well as participate in workshops from community service providers. This group will have monthly meetings, and an email- mailing list to share information and opportunities.
Our Goals:
to enable all parents of all students to be effective in their advocacy efforts
to join together with families to advocate for students with special needs
to identify needs and concerns to better provide school wide and community wide support and resources
to connect families with each other in hopes of developing a strong support network within the Beacon Community
Who Should Come to LAC Meetings?
The Local Advisory Committee is open to all families!
While the LAC welcomes all families, the committee was created specifically for our families who have students receiving special education services, or who are in need of social and emotional support. We especially hope that these families will find the time to join us.
For more information about the LAC, please email krameaka@beaconart.org
***If you'd like to join, attend meetings, or receive information via email about community services and supports, please fill out the form linked below and send it to Beacon's Director of Special Education, Karen Rameaka, krameaka@beaconart.org.
