Crucial Conversations with your Student
This past week, Mrs. Lowery met with all 4th and 5th graders concerning two major issues.
She asked students to be sure to report anything they hear or see that is unsafe or unhealthy. She also talked about social media, and making sure that students understand that they should not post threats, or anything that could be perceived as a threat on social media.
We invite you to continue these conversations with your student. It is so important for all of us to work together to keep our students safe!
Upcoming Events:
2/27 PTA Reptile Show--all students
3/7 No Homework Night
3/9 Field Day, End of 3rd Grading Period
3/12-3/16 Spring Break
3/22 4th Grade Music Program, PTA Meeting
3/19-3/23 Spring Book Fair
3/30 - Good Friday, School Holiday
****CHANGES COMING FOR MORNING DROP OFF!!!****
Beginning the week after Spring Break, you will not be able to drive in the front visitor lot beginning at 7:30 until 8:20. We have numerous parents who come in and drop students, even after being asked not to. We also have many parents parking and walking their students which is safer, but still a concern. This is also slowing the line from parent pick up by having to merge with that traffic. We will close this lot in the morning and you will need to drive in the parent drop off line if you are bringing your students to school.
In addition, we have been notified by the Katy ISD Police Department that tickets will be issued for cars parked on our Ventana Lakes Parkway if they are blocking the flow of traffic. They will soon be placing "no stopping or parking" signs along the front of the school.
We appreciate your help in keeping our students and staff safe.
Help Stop the Flu at Bethke!
Our school community continues to be impacted by Influenza. Please help stop the spread of the flu to our students by following the 24 Hour Communicable Illness Policy. KISD Administrative Regulation FFAD is in place to ensure the health and safety of all students and states that students who exhibit vomiting, diarrhea, or a fever 100 degrees or higher (Fahrenheit) must be excluded from school. Re-admittance is allowable as follows:
•Free of fever (greater than 100) for at least 24 hours without the use of fever reducing medication such as Acetaminophen or Ibuprofen. Common trade names of products containing these medications include, but are not limited to, Tylenol, Motrin or Advil.
•Food and liquids have been tolerated for at least 24 hours without vomiting and/or diarrhea, and without the use of medication to relieve these symptoms.
•Students diagnosed with a contagious illness that is being treated with prescription medication, must complete a minimum of 24 hours of the prescribed medication dosage prior to returning to school.
Please see www.CDC.gov for information on Influenza.
