Schedule Alert! Varsity Football Game at Vestavia Hills Moved to Thursday

Due to the potential of severe weather in the area this weekend, the Hewitt-Trussville at Vestavia Hills Varsity Football game has been moved to Thursday October 8. Tickets purchased for the game can be redeemed on Thursday. The game will kick off at 7pm.

Hewitt-Trussville Football (5-2 Overall; 2-2 7A Region 3) will travel to Vestavia Hills Thursday night for a 7A Region 3 match up.

Hewitt-Trussville has won two of the last three meetings in the series. The Huskies won 28-12 in 2015 and 41-6 in 2018. The Rebels won 19-14 in 2019.

Volleyball Picks up 10th Win of the Season

Hewitt-Trussville Volleyball picked up their 10th win of the season Monday night with a 3-0 victory over Pinson Valley. Marley Carmichael had seven kills. Haley Wilkinson had 15 digs. Molly Kate Green had four aces, 33 assists, and ten digs. Gabi Dion had ten kills and six digs. Zoe Walker added 12 digs.

The Huskies will continue Area play tonight as they visit Gadsden City. HT will host Minor on Thursday in the final home game of the season. Tickets for Thursday's matches can be purchased via the link below.

Cross Country: Veteran's Park Elite Meet Recap

Hewitt-Trussville Cross Country traveled to Veteran's Park Thursday to compete against many of the best teams in the state at the Veteran's Park Elite Meet. The HT Girls finished 3rd as a team and the HT Boys finished 4th as a team.

In the Girls race, Maci Mills paced the team as she finished 8th overall with a time of 21:01.16. The Huskies ran well together as a team as Kylee Sisk finished 16th, Amelia Brady finished 17th, Avery Cahoon placed 20th, and Sophia Knox finished 21st. Hewitt-Trussville finished two points ahead of Homewood and five points ahead of Hoover.

In the Boys race, Nathan Knox collected a top-five finish as he placed 5th overall. Mitchell Phillips finished 12th and Sam Lovin finished 26th. Tristan Teer finished 30th and Garrett Yokeley finished 34th to round out the scoring.

The Huskies will travel to Decatur on October 10 for the Dew it on the Trails race.

David Dobbs Honored with Making a Difference Award

Hewitt-Trussville Head Boys Cross Country Coach David Dobbs was honored on the field prior to Friday's game with the AHSAA Making a Difference Award. AHSAA Executive Director Steve Savarese and AHSAA Associate Executive Director Alvin Briggs were on hand to present the award to Dobbs.

9th Grade Football Beats Hoover

The Hewitt-Trussville Freshmen Football team went on the road Monday night and defeated Hoover 38-16. The Huskies will be back on the road next week as they visit Oxford.

Schedule Alert! Middle School Football Games Moved to Wednesday

Hewitt-Trussville Middle School Football games at Bragg will now be played on Wednesday October 7. The 7th Grade game will start at 5pm and the 8th Grade game will start at 6:45pm.

8th Grade Football Wins Overtime Thriller

The 8th Grade Football team had an exciting 20-18 overtime win last Thursday against Homewood. The game was tied 12-12 at the end of regulation. The Huskies scored a touchdown and converted the two-point play. Homewood responded with a touchdown, but the Husky defense stopped the two-point play to secure the victory.

Noah Dobbins completed six passes for 72 yards and a touchdown. Jacob Serena ran for 74 yards and had 30 yards in receptions. Serena scored two touchdowns. Steven Sigler added 38 yards on the ground.

On defense, Jordan Colley had six tackles, one tackle for loss, and one sack. Cooper Langston added five tackles.

The 7th Grade Huskies fell 12-6 in overtime. Caden Ali had 99 yards rushing and Delvecchio Alston had 64 yards on the ground. James Kelly scored the HT touchdown. Kelly added eight tackles and a sack on defense. Dylan Cope had five tackles and four assists.

7th Grade Volleyball Beats Pizitz

The HTMS 7th Grade Volleyball team finished their season with a 2-0 win over Pizitz last Wednesday. The Huskies were down in the first set but rallied to win. In the second set, the Huskies were down 7-5 but then reeled off 12 straight point to take a commanding lead.

MS Cross Country: Jesse Owens Recap

HTMS Cross Country traveled to Moulton last Friday to compete in the Jesse Owens Invitational. The HT Boys and HT Girls finished 2nd in the team standings.

In the Boys race, HT's Brooks Maddox took home first place honors as he ran the course in 11:35.08. Ty Bamberg finished 15th and Charlie Wood finished 16th. Sawyer Garrett placed 27th and Mason Lachina placed 30th to round out the top five.

In the Girls race, Ella Cane was the top HT finisher as she placed 4th overall with a time of 14:05.81. Addie Rutland placed 8th, Addy Alexander finished 9th, Ellen Thomas finished 10th, and Samantha Morrison finished 11th.

HTHS Track and Field Sign Up

Those interested in competing for the indoor or outdoor track and field teams who have not already signed up should email Coach Esslinger at or stop by the lunchroom during Husky Hour to let him know you are interested. Those who are currently involved in other sports won’t be expected to start until 1 week after the completion of their current season, but they should still sign up if interested. The indoor track and field practices officially start on November 9th, and those interested should sign up no later than September 25th.
