Clara Barton Updates
I hope everyone enjoyed the long weekend! Last week we celebrated Peace Week. The time and planning to organizing the event is greatly appreciated. Thank you Ms. Farley, Ms. Hinkley, and Ms. Baker 💜
We need more staff and student feedback for the Edclimate survey. The survey closes Friday, June 9th. The link is below. Students in grade 5 & 6, teachers provide 10 minutes to complete the survey. So far, we only have 36 completed student surveys.
Morning arrival is extremely busy. Once the bell rings a little over 270 students enter into the building from 3 entry doors. ALL staff should be at their morning post to receive students. I have changed some staff arrival post to ensure that high traffic areas are monitored. I have observed students not going directly to homeroom. Students waiting on the stairs for friends. Students going into areas that are not monitored in the morning. We must do better for the remainder of the year. If you are going to be late notify an administrator. We cannot have a venerable unsupervised area in our building inthe morning.
1. All staff should be reporting at their contractual time.
2.Teachers should be at their classroom door greeting and receiving students by 9:00am
3. Staff in the hall should ask students to walk, make sure students go directly to homeroom. Be alert
4. Staff at doors monitor students as they enter the building. Spread out into the halls to increase supervision.
The number of physical incidents with students has increased in the last 3 weeks. What conversations are you having with students and families to reinforce your culture and climate? Physical incidents will continue to increase as the weather gets warmer. Continue to provide structure and little down time.
Please follow the guidelines below, to assit with managing in class student behaviors for the remainder of the year. I would like to join a few circles this week. Please email when you are doing one.
1. Continue having circles
2. Continue communicating with families
3. Continue working hard, limited down time, students need structure.
4. Continue to hold student accountable- Student that do not behave in school will NOT be allowed to participate in end of the year activities.
Sticker charts and other system can be used to manage student behavior, as they earn activities.
PBIS Free Haircuts
We will have free haircuts in May, dates coming soon. Thank you to REOC for stepping up and helping out for the month of April. 10 Students received free haircuts.
Recess Policy
2. Playground radio must be outside
3. Two classes on the playground, one class in the field
4. Provide cell phone number to the office when walking
5. If taking a walk, you must have signed walking permission slips for all students on the walk. This is extremely important
6. Recess should not exceed 20 minutes
IReady District Expectations
1. No students in the red by June
2. Create AIS plans to close gaps
3. Conference with students about their data
4. Please make sure you are sharing student data with parents. Student growth is important to share and students not making growth, will help to drive conversations of concern.
