Sunset Weekly Notes
December 4th - 8th
Mission: Sunset will educate and INSPIRE students to THRIVE in an environment of change.
Message from Hafey....
So, I'd like to give all our staff a SHOUT OUT for the grit and perseverance you demonstrated! I know that last week was stressful, hectic (to say the least), and for some I know there was a sense of higher anxiety than normal as you had colleagues in your rooms observing! As all of you have now completed an observation and most of you being observed - I hope we have broken through 'the ice' and this practice will become routine! After talking with each group - there are some things we will switch up based on the feedback! So thank you for speaking honestly about the Learning Walks! Until the next scheduled time - if there is a teacher/grade level in which you want to observe - let Ali and I know and we will provide work to provide that opportunity! THANK YOU....
As soon as Pati releases our report from Wednesday, I'll get that out to you all! Thank you for having such an open, yearning heart for learning! Our students deserve you in their classrooms EVERY day!
Have a super week!

Emergency Cafeteria Cashier...
My fear.....having to cover for the lunch lady!!!!
PLEASE be alert...
There are many community members that walk through our playground. Please be on high alert....if an adult stops to talk with a student - get there immediately and talk with that student. Let the office know immediately if this should happen!
Sunset Data Spreadsheet
So, as I am learning, I am understanding that there are 2 parts of this test:
1. The multiple choice - graded by the computer and placed on the Wonders Dahboard
2. Short responses - upper grades only - that require grading by the teacher - on a 0-4 scale
Soooooo - I have added an additional column for you to document and track both the score from the dashboard AND the students writing/response.
Please be sure that you update after EVERY assessment ASAP. This data is an EXCELLENT indicator of performance on PARCC! More to come on this correlation!

The Power of Relationships....
Be sure to take a moment to greet EVERY student by their name EVERY day! This will make a powerful start to every day! Making that connection every day will be magical!
