Special area grades will be given at the end of marking periods 2 and 4. Our S.T.A.T. teacher Ms. Gomez will be available during American Education Week in the alcove to answer additional questions.
Conference Day

Woodholme's Read-A-Thon
Woodholme's 5th Annual Read-A-Thon will begin on Monday, November 20th. Students will read for more than 200 minutes in school and raise money online to purchase books for classroom libraries and other reading resources. Last year we had 300 supporters and we raised $7,620. We are looking to exceed that goal this year with your support.
Front Door Procedures
When visiting Woodholme Elementary, visitors are asked to press the door buzzer at the front of the building. You must be in clear view of the camera. Office staff will ask the following questions: May I have the purpose for your visit? Do you have an appointment? Please report to the office with your valid photo identification.
Lost & Found
The Lost & Found is already overflowing! Please stop by school to see if anything belongs to your child. All unclaimed belongings will be donated during Winter Break. Please mark jackets, sweaters, lunchboxes, etc., with your child's name to avoid them being lost.
Nurse's Nook
Don't forget to get your flu shot! Most pharmacies and your personal physician can administer flu shots.
Every child in our school should have a seasonal change of clothing in their locker. Spills and falls happen!
Please view the November calendar for information on upcoming events at Woodholme! We look forward to seeing you at Conference Day and during American Education Week! Picture Makeups/Retakes are scheduled November 7th
A Note From the Principal
Dear Woodholme families,
As the days grow shorter, cooler, and the leaves continue to change color and then drop, we are reminded that the school year is already a quarter of the way completed! Don't forget to change your clocks back an hour this weekend on November 5th. The month of November is a busy month for schools and an important time for parents to get involved!
The week of November 13-16 is American Education Week. The visitation schedule for the week is listed above in the newsletter and also on the calendar attached. We hope you will join us so that you can see the wonderful learning that is taking place at Woodholme. This is also an excellent opportunity to sit back and observe your child in the classroom setting. We hope you can join us!
Report cards will be sent home on November 16th for grades 1-5, and the following day is set aside as a day for parents to conference with K-5 teachers to review student progress. Kindergarten progress reports will be given to parents on conference day.
For conference day, please make sure you prearrange to meet with your child's teacher so you can hear how your child is learning and progressing and what you can do to help support your child's progress. Changes to the elementary report card are explained above. Our STAT Teacher will also be available during American Education Week to answer questions.
The Northwest Area Education Advisory Council will also be holding a grading and reporting meeting on November 29, 2017. Here is the flyer for the event.
November is certainly a month of giving thanks and appreciating all we have. I'd like to personally thank the Woodholme teachers and staff for their hard work and dedication to our students. I'd also like to thank our parents, grandparents and family members who support our teachers and students as well as our Community Supporters. Together we can achieve more for all Woodholme students!
Sincerely,
Principal Young
