City Agenda
City Agenda is an application that aims to increase citizen participation by keeping them updated with the schedule of events and activities organized in their city or in any other city. This mobile application allows citizens to look for cultural and leisure activities, the application provides a list of events which are occurring today or in any established date, including a: map of events, list of events, search tool for events, and the possibility of saving favorite events.
The solution is easy to use and intuitive. The user selects the date on a calendar and gets immediately all events happening in the city. The list of events can also be visualized over a map, allowing also looking for events in any other location or filtering the events by means of tags. Once an event is selected the application shows detailed information, including address, timing, route to the event, and allows adding it to your personal calendar or sharing it through any other application.
The application can also very easily be adapted to any city willing to provide this service. In fact, the only requirement is that event data are available through any of the most common open data formats.
Energy Generation and Consumption Dashboard
The service transforms a home (or business premises) into a smart space where the power, lighting and heating can be controlled from a smartphone or tablet. In addition, electricity use and pre-set options can be monitored to manage lighting or powered devices to meet the space requirements or reduce energy consumption.
- Availability and Access: the hardware must be purchased either directly from Electric Corby, The free application to control the energy usage must be downloaded from the app store or Google Play. Energy usage and generation monitors will be available throughout Europe, however equipment that requires a socket to be plugged in is currently only available in the UK and Denmark.
- Reuse and Redistribution: The data obtained from the energy monitoring and generation will be anonymized to protect the interest of the client, however the data will be available to be analysed to garner an insight into public trends of energy usage.
- Universal Participation: everyone must be able to use, reuse and redistribute providing the hardware is compatible with the infrastructure in the region (e.g. sockets and energy outlets) – There should be no discrimination against fields of endeavor or against persons or groups.
Scope and purpose of the service
The main goals of the Energy dashboard and Monitoring are to:
- Increase understanding of public trends in energy usage;
- Develop carbon neutral buildings;
- Reduce energy costs/optimizing energy use.

GA in Bucharest
July was a good month for the CloudOpting partners to gather in Bucharest for a three-day GA, where the underlying tools and approach to achieve the core objectives of the project were discussed. The opportunity that all members of the consortium were present at the event was also beneficial for the discussions over the business sustainability work package and commercialization models of the CloudOpting solution.
Stay tuned!
