A Message From Michele Barkley, Coordinator of Early Learning
Dear ELC Families,
On April 5th, our full return to in person instruction for students will begin. Our school hours will remain the same however, ALL children will attend either in-person or remotely (the option you have chosen) 5 days per week (Monday through Friday).
AM Session: 8:15 AM - 10:15 AM
PM Session: 12:30 PM - 2:30 PM
A few guidelines to remember:
- Social Distancing requirements changed from 6-ft to 3-ft in most situations. This has allowed us to fit more students into our classrooms. We will continue to abide by the 6-ft of social distancing to the greatest extent possible.
- The use of appropriate personal protective equipment, including face covers, is required. We recommend each student come to school with a minimum of two (2) facial coverings.
- Schools are no longer required to conduct temperature checks of all students entering the building. Daily, students must pre-certify that they are symptom free and able to attend school. Please complete your child's self-certification form and send it to school with your child each day. Please contact your child's teacher if you are in need of additional forms.
- With the return to full-day school, new pickup/drop off times have been created and will be sent to families by the end of the week. There will continue to be a 50 person capacity on buses – meaning, depending on the size of the route, students may be assigned a seat next to another student whom they may not be related to or living with. (Note: this is a change from what we are doing in our hybrid model where only siblings and students from the same household are seated together). We will keep seating charts for contact tracing purposes. Families are welcome to transport their child(ren) to and from school. Please contact our main office if you would like to change their transportation.
- Bagged, grab-n-go lunch will be offered at our elementary and middle schools. If you would like to pick up a grab-n-go lunch for your child(ren) please contact Julie Byczek at 847-838-8409 or jbyczek@antioch34.com
- Students will be permitted a mask break while playing outside so long they maintain 6-ft of distance between other students during that unmasked time. Students will be allowed to utilize our playground. Students will practice good hand hygiene before and after playground usage. Playground use and access will be monitored and the number of students using each piece of equipment will be limited.
- Please make sure that each student onsite brings a personal, reusable water bottle with them each day.
- Please call our main office if your child will be absent at 847-838-8901. When stating the reason for the absence, please provide details relating to the symptoms that your child is experiencing, specifically if your child has a fever, nasal congestion, sore throat, or a cough, as well as a diagnosis if one has been given by your doctor. Due to the current pandemic, if specific symptoms are not provided for your child, your child may not be able to return to school without a doctor's note. As always, please keep students home if they are not feeling well.
- With the exemption of when students are sick or quarantined, those opting for in-person learning are expected to be in attendance daily. If your child cannot attend in-person because they are sick or quarantined, they do have the option to attend remotely, however please keep in mind that your child may not have all of the required materials to participate fully. Please communicate with your child's teacher so that they can assist you.
