Bobcat Weekly Update
February 17, 2017
A BIG THANK YOU to Rachel Hodges and student council for sharing Random Acts of Kindness this week. There is also a lot of really good service learning taking place. I am so proud of all of our students!
I hope during your planning time today you were able to feel empowered to make instructional decisions based on the needs of your students. A huge shout out to all of the teachers, staff, and subs who worked to make Super Specials run:)
Have a great weekend!

Math Learning Team Look Fors 2/21
Schedule for Classroom Visits on the 21st
Teacher Actions:Advancing student understanding by asking questions that build on, but do not take over or funnel student thinking.
Making certain to ask questions that go beyond gathering information to probing thinking and require explanations and justifications.
Allowing sufficient wait time so that more students can formulate and offer responses. Less rescuing of students.
The teacher facilitates and guides the conversation (guide on the side rather than sage on the stage).
Student Actions:
Explaining, clarifying, and elaborating on their thinking.
Present their responses to questions clearly without rushing to respond too quickly.
Struggling at times with math tasks, but knowing that breakthroughs often emerging through confusion and struggle.
Contribute ideas and ask questions.
Questions to Ask Students:
What do you do if you get stuck?
Is it okay a make a mistake ? (Yes - so what do you do if you make a mistake? No - why is it not okay to make a mistake?)
Order of the Elephant - Be sure Elmer is making the rounds
