First Marking Period is Half Over!
Dear Beck Families:
The first marking period is flying by! Student progress reports are available on PowerSchool. Please make sure to check your child's PowerSchool account on a regular basis. Please note that Friday, October 29, 2021 is a HALF DAY - students will be dismissed at 11:49 a.m. This day marks the end of the marking period, and the afternoon is for records. Parents will recieve their child's first marking period report cards at Parent Teacher Conferences on Nov. 10 & 11, 2021. More info on that event coming soon!
We will be having our Chipotle fundraiser this weekend, on Saturday, Oct. 16. The 23 Mile Road store will donate a percentage of the sales from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. to the Beck Family Volunteers (BFV). To order online, or for pick-up use the code 2CB67M9.
Our first bagel sale was this week. Students who ordered a bagel (or Skinny Pop or cereal) enjoyed their treat during lunch. Our BFV has regular bagel days planned throughout the school year.
Halloween is fast approaching too. Students' attention turns to costumes and fun events that surround the spooky day. This year our BFV has "Trunk or Treat" planned for Friday, Oct 29. It does require a reservation to participate, and a trunk! All Trunk reservations are due by Fri., October 22. Also, students are bringing home costume reminders for participating in school festivities. Classrooms will be able to hold parties with their students, but unfortunately we will not be able to invite parent volunteers in the building to assist with the festivities. We are planning on still holding our outdoor parade - weather permitting! Our K and Young 5s will have their parade on Thursday, Oct. 28 at 2:30 p.m. Grades 1-6 will have their parade on Friday, Oct. 29 at 10:30 a.m.
I hope everyone will enjoy a wonderful fall weekend!

Changes to Quarantine Process
As Mr. Monroe’s September 30 letter indicated, there has been a series of adjustments in required quarantine guidelines. These adjustments from the Macomb County Health Department are for students who may have been identified as a close contact. The changes are the result of discussions between our district leadership and the health department and are based on concerns shared by our parents.
Our goal remains to keep our students in-person throughout the year. The new guidelines provide an avenue that families can take to return quarantined students to classrooms earlier if they meet certain conditions, such as a vaccination, a distance of more than three feet from the contact or testing daily over seven days through either a clinic or using an at-home kit. If you choose to pursue the at-home or clinic tests, our school will provide you a form to record the results.
In the event your student is a close contact, we will notify you via phone call, email and a text message. (If you do not receive regular updates from our school, please call the office to verify we have accurate information for you).
For more information, you may visit our district’s website regarding the required quarantine process and our school’s layered mitigation strategies. If you have any questions regarding the process or the learning plan for your child if a quarantine is necessary, please speak to your teacher or call our office directly.
