Fully Present

Moving Along with Mrs. Maddox

Dear Jaguar Families,

These next two weeks we will be playing catch-up from snow days that were a welcomed pause to a busy start to our 3rd quarter. While it never feels good to be pulled in a hundred different directions, I have to say I really appreciate the fast-paced finish to the month of February. To me, I feel like I am rounding the bases and getting ready to slide into home plate. A busy calendar means progress!!!

The task I have enjoyed the most this week was spending 20 minutes in classrooms, recording data that focused on seven areas: Equitable Learning, High Expectations, Supportive Learning, Active Learning, Progress Monitoring, Well Managed Learning, and Digital Learning. In the fall, teachers are observed and given feedback about their style, approach, pace and content. During the second semester, I use the ELEOT (Effective Learning Environment Observation Tool) which focuses on what a student needs to experience for good learning to take place. The items analyzed are from the student's perspective. This is the same tool used during the school accreditation process. It’s always fun to be in the classroom, watching, learning, and sometimes participating in the learning process. Each day our teachers help create joyful rigor within each of our classrooms. It’s a blessing to be Fully Present learning, loving, and growing closer to Christ through the eyes of our youth. We look forward to visiting with each of you next week at conferences. We hope you have a blessed weekend. Thank you, thank you, thank you for your continued support.

With a Grateful Heart,

Jodie Maddox
