Perth Hills Discovery Centre
Our P&F’s generosity allowed us to discover the wonders in our Perth Hills. We met some awesome Australian animals and went on a hunt to explore the Australian wildlife. We got up close and personal with our magnifying glasses, searching for the hidden beauties of our land. We had a delightful day of discovery!
Remembrance Day Prayer
Let us remember all the people who have given their lives during time of war and conflict.
Let us remember the sacrifices that these very special people have made.
Let us remember the peacemakers and the people who strive for peace in our world today.
Let us remember that we enjoy freedom today because of people who risked their lives for us.
Let us remember all the unknown people who have died for us.
And finally Let us never forget why we remember them and enjoy a peaceful life.
Message from the Principal
Dear Parents and Carers
All children at our school have the right to feel safe and be happy. 2021 saw us develop and refine our behaviour management procedures and expectations. We published a Student Code of Conduct based on our Mercy values which we sent to all families. This Code of Conduct forms the foundation for our expectations about how students conduct themselves and relate to one another. We partner with parents, who are their children’s first educators, in setting the example of how to treat people with respect, to use manners and to be honest, kind and caring towards others. Our behaviour expectations are positively reinforced through our Mercy Value Certificates and Faction Token reward system.
Our behaviour management procedures take into account our Catholic Identity and belief that each person has the ability with the help of the Holy Spirit to make good choices. Created in the likeness and image of God, we work with children to help them realise when they have done wrong and the impact their poor choices have on others. We have taught children about their brains and how breathing can help them control their emotions and consequently their behaviour choices. When a poor choice has been made, a child gets a reflection sheet to take home, which identifies their behaviour and a consequence. Major behaviour like physical aggression or disrespect will result in a major behaviour card being sent home. We also have red cards for aggression in sport.
Our P&F invest an enormous amount of personal time to put on events for our school community to enjoy, like our very first outdoor movie night this coming Friday. We trust families will support this occasion and ensure that it is a success on the night. Good behaviour by our students is essential if we are to continue running functions like this in the future. We thank you in advance for supporting our P&F by attending the movie and managing your children’s behaviour on the night. All play equipment is out of bounds as children attending the evening are there to picnic and watch a movie with their family. Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times during the night.
Kiss and Drive
We have noticed that there are many dangerous practices in the Kiss and Drive which need to stop for the safety of the students at our school. Children are being dropped off on the bend entrance to the kiss and drive which means these children then have to walk alongside cars to get to the patio area.
We have also noticed that children are climbing out of their cars on the road side of the Kiss and Drive and not the patio side. Children then have to walk behind or in front of their car to get to the patio. Walking in between cars presents a danger to our students.
We ask parents and carers to please stop these dangerous practices.
There are a significant number of parents using the Kiss and Drive after school and we require your support to continue this collection point. Please remind your child/ren to sit together as a family, behave safely and sensibly and be looking out for their car to arrive.
We are ordering bollards for the Kiss and Drive to further ensure the safety of our students and we ask for parent/carer cooperation in following the above rules.
Finally mobile phones are not to be used in the Kiss and Drive please.
Please save the date for our school AGM on the 29th of November. There are a number of positions available for nomination on both the school Advisory Council and the P&F. If you are interested in one of these positions, please nominate by sending an email to firstname.lastname@example.org
As we start to prepare for Christmas, let us enter this festive period and beyond with pure and faith filled hearts, praying each day, ‘Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit.’ Psalm 51:10
God bless you all.
