Thank You for Helping Lake Elementary Students in Louisiana!

We thank you for all of the donations of school supplies and money to assist Lake Elementary School in Gonzales, Louisiana. Over 20 boxes of school supplies and more than $500.00 in gift cards were sent to Lake Elementary! This will directly assist students from this school in getting back to learning after their building and its contents were damaged by recent devastating floods. We are so proud of our generous, caring community for reaching out to help!

Musical Instruments on the Bus

As we get rolling with our band and orchestra rehearsals for fourth and fifth grade students, we have received a request from our bus drivers. Some buses are more full than others, making the carrying of larger instruments on the bus uncomfortable or even unsafe. Rule of thumb--if students cannot sit with the instruments on their laps or tucked under the seat on the bus, then someone should drive the student on rehearsal days or drop the instrument off at school and pick it up. Thank you for your help with this.

Cell Phones

Some parents opt to have their children carry cell phones. Primarily this seems to be for after school care and after school activity purposes. That is the parent's choice. Phones must be kept in the backpack from the time the student leaves home/day care in the morning until the student arrives at home/day care in the afternoon. Students should not have phones out on the bus or at any point during the school day. Thank you

Teachers' Availability for Meetings

From 8:00 to 8:40 AM each day is reserved for teachers to be involved in meetings of various kinds. On Tuesday mornings teachers are involved in grade level or department meetings. On Thursday mornings teachers are engaged in faculty meetings or committee meetings. We reserve Monday and Wednesday mornings for meetings involving parents and teachers (ex. IEP meetings) . When scheduling to meet with teachers, please keep this in mind. Help us to manage our many meeting responsibilities by endeavoring to come in on a Monday or Wednesday. We will certainly be flexible if parents' needs require alternate scheduling. Thank you!
