The Ram Reminder Families

2nd Edition 9.2.22

Message from the Principal

Dear Greene County Elementary Students and Families,

We have all our students back in the building, and it feels great! Thanks to everyone for your patience as we work out the kinks of the beginning of a school year together. I believe your children have had a wonderful first few days of school. We would like to keep that going strong! Let us know if there is anything else we can do to make attending Greene County Elementary the best experience for your child.

Sincerely,

Audrey Hinote

Greene County Elementary Principal

The Idea Lab is a new morning choice for our students. Ask your children about it!

Morning Drop off procedures:

With our students getting back into the routine of school, it's time to return to our normal drop off routines and procedures at Greene County Elementary. Parents can drop off students in the pick up lane, at the playground, or walk them to the door. Please say your "good-byes" at the door and we will be sure your child arrives safely to their classroom. Thanks for your help with this!

Leaving early/Change of plans:

If your child needs to leave early from school, or has a change of after school dismissal plans, please call the office 515.386.3178. Sometimes teachers don't have time to check Remind or email during the school day, so calling the office will ensure your child gets the message and gets home safely.

Local Law Enforcement:

This week we had a visit from our local law enforcement during our lunch hour. The police and sheriff's departments would like to visit our schools more frequently this year. Don't be surprised if your child mentions having an officer join them for lunch! Yes, police officers like school lunch, too!
Greene County Elementary Reading Compact

This compact is available for your review. It's a commitment we will make to you, parents and families, to your child's education in reading and progress toward literacy. Receipt of the compact and submitting the form is completely optional.

Bike Riding at Recess

Our PE teacher, Mr. Thompson, has worked hard to teach students at GCE to ride bikes. He has also collected a few bikes over the summer. We would like to provide students with an opportunity to ride bikes safely at recess. We will spend next week (Sept. 6-9) discussing routines and procedures of riding bikes at school during recess, and allow students to begin riding bikes starting the week of Sept. 12. We currently have 8 bikes, so we will have to take turns and share. Safety is our #1 priority, so everyone riding a bike during recess will be asked to wear a helmet.

We could use a few extra bikes at our school! If you know someone who has extra bikes and wouldn't mind donating them to the school, our students would appreciate it! Please contact Mr. Thompson about this:
