End of 1st Semester
Thursday, January 25th, is the end of 1st semester. There will be no school for students on Friday, January 26th to allow teachers to input grades. Report cards, along with a copy of your student's transcript, will be mailed home Wednesday, January 31st. Please contact the BHS office if you have any questions at 541-347-4413.

Wildland Firefighter Type 2 Course
We have an exciting new course we are offering next semester, the Wildland Firefighter Type 2 course. This course provides students with the knowledge and skills to work towards an entry level position in wildland fire services. If you are interested in taking this course next semester, please go to Mrs. Wrights office to learn more and sign up!

We were finally able to get girls basketball photos rescheduled for 1/22 @ 3:45 in the HLMS gym
Please remember that your student's attendance matters. We know that life and illness happen, but we would like to see students missing no more than 5% of the school year. If your student does have to miss school, please reach out to teachers or the office to see how we can help keep kids caught up academically.
End of 1st Semester
The end of the first semester is January 25th. Please make sure to check your ParetVue account so you can check up on students' grades and to see if they have any missing assignments.
Students will be beginning new schedules with a fresh start on the 29th.
Spelling Bee
Mrs. Kraynik, our TAG coordinator, put on a spelling bee on 1/17. Our Winner, 8th grader Zoe Thomas, is moving on to a regional Scripps spelling bee! Congratulations to her and to our other participants. Pictured right: Hunter Brown, Payson Martin, Zoe Thomas, Aubree Pease (3rd Place), Elizabeth Heim, Mahina Clampitt (2nd Place), and Jaxon Allard.
This dance is a casual dress dance. School dress code applies.
1st Semester Behavior/Attendance Recognition
Next week will be having a special recognition surprise for students who had either no behavior referrals or met our districts good attendance threshold during Semester 1. We will let students know if they qualify and what the surprise is next week.
Lost and Found
Please remind your students to come check the lost and found. You can also come in and check the lost and found yourself. All items will be donated at the end of the 1st semester.

On 1/19, our whole school went on a quick trip to the Sprague to see Haley Johnsen perform!

Valley Flora wanted to alert you to a few new programs that we - and other NW farms - are spearheading in in order to make fresh, local produce more accessible to low income families in our community. We’re trying to get the word out as widely as possible. If you have a spot to hang a poster (attached below), or room for a mention in your next newsletter, that would be wonderful! We are happy to provide you with a color-printed poster, just let us know! Also, please feel free to forward this email to anyone in your networks who would benefit from knowing about these programs.
- Double Up Food Bucks (DUFB): a program that helps low-income Oregonians purchase more fruits and vegetables while supporting local, family farms. Folks with SNAP benefits can purchase one of our farm’s community supported agriculture (CSA) shares and DUFB will provide 1:1 matching funds (they pay half the cost of the CSA with SNAP and DUFB covers the other half). It's a win-win that strengthens our community by providing better access to fresh, healthy food while helping local farmers earn a living.
- CSA Sliding Scale: our farm is offering a voluntary sliding scale payment system in order to make our food more accessible to everyone in the community. It’s been a beautiful example of community - and humanity - at its best.
